The star in the magic array surged.
The nature of the star changed.
Not just a simple ‘restraint,’ but ‘destruction.’
‘A change in the laws of the realm!!’
The pupils of Cal’s eyes widened as if they were about to tear apart.
Beyond mere interference with the laws of the star, it was altering them. The level of difficulty, needless to say, was beyond measure.
‘What? Am I seeing things?’
But it wasn’t an illusion.
The magic array, transformed into a destructive force, began to tear apart the Lord of Darkness.

The Lord of Darkness screamed, but it was futile.
Like cutting off the breath of a trapped beast, the magic array destroyed the core of the Lord of Darkness.
“Th-This can’t be.”
Looking at Van through fading vision due to mana depletion, Cal was bewildered.
Van remained unchanged.
There wasn’t even a hint of doubt or wavering in the face of this seemingly unbelievable miracle he was bringing about.
Yet, strangely, that steadfastness seemed to assert that all of this was indeed reality.

My heart thumped wildly.

There are two strategies for capturing the Lord of Darkness.
First, capturing with force.

The more common method is manipulating and altering the magic array, just like what I’ve done before, to destroy the core.

It was because at least three protagonists with mage classes had to gather for a successful strategy.
I thought with my mastery of magic, it might be possible, but I immediately hit a wall.

It was natural.
The knowledge of magic I’d accumulated was barely at a 3rd star ranked mage.
On the other hand, this magic array was created by combining the powers of 8th-star Archmages, so I had no clue about the type of spell used.
‘Darn it. What should I do? Should I run away?’
However, I shook my head.

If I ran away, there was no way to acquire mana.
I couldn’t win against the Duke in a duel, and there was a high chance of being forced into a military or bureaucratic position.

Fortunately, there was Cal’s presence.

The Lord of Darkness was an astral entity composed entirely of mana.
Banishing it allowed me to obtain a significant amount of mana comparable to powerful elixirs.
The amount of mana acquired was equivalent to what mages would obtain after ten years of cultivation—a substantial quantity.
‘But, given my mana insensitivity, I can’t expect that level of effect.’
As mentioned earlier, my absorption capability was only about 1/100th of that of mages.
Even with this acquisition, it barely exceeded what a month’s worth of mana would be for them, not even close to the ten-year mark.
‘Even this much is a tremendous amount for me.’
It was roughly half of what an average 1st-tier apprentice mage would possess.
Though one might call it “just,” it held significant meaning for me.
