The Impact of the Author's Intervention on a Blank Page - Chapter 35
His eyes gleamed with interest. This was truly exhausting…
He continued chattering as he pleased, regardless of others’ expressions.
“Though your etiquette seems lacking, everyone will understand given your long confinement to a sickbed.”
“Haha…. Thank you.”
‘I feel somewhat guilty thinking this, but I can see why he lost his head in the previous cycle.’
Between his political and business meddling, plus his undisguised high-handed attitude poking at everyone, it seemed like he might be eyeing the succession despite being only the Third Prince. No wonder the war-maniac would have considered him a priority target for elimination.
The Prince watched with curious eyes as Lord Raijin covered his mouth, letting out a deep cough. The Grand Duke of Izatrix observed both the Prince and Raijin, who struggled to hide his discomfort, before speaking. He seemed intent on cutting off the Prince’s attention and interest in Raijin.
“So… what is this item you wish to show us? Surely not another discussion about that large-scale railway project. I understand you brought three carriages.”
“As I mentioned before, the railway development project I introduced is being positively reviewed by the Imperial family. It’s not something to be dismissed as merely a personal venture.”
He resumed his passionate speech.
“I admit my previous approach was short-sighted. Anyone can make explanations with words alone. But this time will be different. We’ve brought something in the rear carriage that I’m certain will change the Grand Duke’s perspective once you see it.”
With those words, the Prince stood and began issuing orders to the mansion’s servants as if he owned the place, directing them to find an empty space near the reception room to bring in the items from the second carriage.
Ja-hyun glanced at his brother’s expression. His brother stood, speaking with an impassive face.
“I’ll hear your proposal after examining it personally.”
Though he didn’t seem particularly interested, he appeared willing to at least take a look. As his brother headed toward the reception room door with several servants leading the way, he suddenly turned back.
His brother pressed down on Ja-hyun’s shoulder as he tried to stand, leaning in to whisper in his ear.
“Wait here. I’ll return once I’ve finished checking…”
True enough, his body wouldn’t be much help in moving items. He’d only get in the way if he lingered around. Ja-hyun acknowledged and sank into the plush sofa. He decided to sip tea while waiting for the two to return.
However, his solitude didn’t last long. As the murmuring voices faded away completely, someone quietly approached and called out to him.
“Lord Raijin?”
‘Lord?’ Wondering who would use such an odd title, he looked up to find a servant standing there. Ja-hyun responded with words appropriate to his role.
“What is it?”
“His Highness calls for you.”
Having said that, the servant began walking ahead with urgent steps, giving no time for questions. Ja-hyun stood and followed him.
Ah, this fellow’s face seemed familiar – he was one of the servants who had been standing behind the Prince earlier. As he’d suspected from the start, this probably wasn’t his brother’s doing.
Following the servant proved his suspicions correct. Around the corner, the Third Prince was waiting in a small empty guest room.
As Ja-hyun approached, the Prince greeted him with a smile before turning to half-close the door behind them.
“Well, well?”
“Finally, we can have a proper conversation, Lord Raijin. I’ve sent so many invitations to my castle, but your brother refuses to let you leave this place.”
He even sent invitations? Is this guy a stalker? Could he also be after my Black Dragon or whatever it is?
Though it didn’t seem like he planned to do anything immediately. If that were the case, Ja-hyun would have been easily subdued the moment he entered the room. A simple grip on his neck or chest would have made him pass out before long.
But the Prince didn’t appear that unhinged. Judging by his appearance, he didn’t seem that brazen either.
What could he be thinking?
Moreover, to be interested enough in him to separate him from his brother with lies… Ja-hyun was truly curious about what sparked such intense interest.
Ja-hyun regarded the beautiful blonde prince with suspicious eyes.
“Is that so? As you can see, my poor health prevents me from traveling far.”
‘Just standing here is already becoming difficult.’
“I understand. Please forgive my rude invitation. I was rather impatient.”
Ja-hyun diligently played his role, covering his mouth and feigning a cough while waiting for the Prince’s next words.
“…”
“Though I suppose we’re not close enough for casual conversation, are we?”
“I’m glad you understand that.”
The Prince smiled even at such a dismissive response.
