The Impact of the Author's Intervention on a Blank Page - Chapter 5
But the moment he opened his eyes after receiving his shell body in the new world, Kwon Ja-yun realized something had gone wrong.
At first, he thought he was just waking up from a deep sleep. Being half-immersed in dreams, he couldn’t even remember the contract.
“Ugh…”
His entire body felt terribly painful and uncomfortable. His head was spinning, possibly from a fever.
A sudden cough erupted, pulling his consciousness out like a hunted fish. Ja-yun opened his eyes, gasping.
“Hah, hah…! cough cough…”
The sensation of something hot rising from within had stopped. But with each intermittent cough, hot, sticky liquid dripped from his mouth.
He blinked again. The light hurt his eyes. It was painful. Everything hurts.
Beyond the loose shirt sleeve, he could see his reddened wet hand. A pale, thin hand with protruding joints. Similarly visible was his wrist with bones jutting out precariously.
Terrible pain, a body too weak to rise from bed alone, coughing up blood. But everything was real. There was noisy commotion all around.
“Ugh, uh…. sob”
It hurt so, so much… He groaned, not knowing what to do. He wondered if this was how it would feel to drink a bowl of acid.
Why? Why was he here like this? His body felt as heavy as waterlogged cotton.
Ja-yun tried to remove the blanket and leave the bed. Though his body wouldn’t obey, his mind was consumed with the need to look around and understand what was happening.
But as soon as his feet touched the floor, his wretched body succumbed to gravity. His knees gave out helplessly. Fortunately, the floor was soft with a thick rug, but he crawled across it as if he’d been in a traffic accident.
“Young master! Good heavens…”
“Quickly, bring the master!”
A commotion broke out. Everything was dizzy. He could barely regain his senses, stunned just from falling on the rug. As he staggered, unable to properly lift his body, people in servant’s clothes supported him while repeatedly trying to compose his condition.
“A doctor, quickly get the doctor too!”
Someone shouted loudly nearby, followed by the sound of running footsteps toward the door.
“Young master, young master… You must be in so much pain. The d-doctor has been called, so please endure just a little longer. Just a little.”
“I’m, I’m fine…”
His breathing was gradually stabilizing. As he slowly exhaled as instructed, he could feel the pain subsiding.
“Of course. You’ll be fine, you’ll be alright. The master is coming too.”
Ja-yun nodded with his eyes closed. In truth, he could barely hear the voices.
After a moment, Ja-yun finally regained his senses and looked around. He noticed the room and people’s attire that seemed like something from a movie set. The brown-haired woman wiping his mouth appeared to be in her 40s and wore a thick maid’s uniform that reached her ankles.
Simultaneously, with a small out-of-place ‘ding’ sound, text resembling a digital notice appeared before his eyes.

A flurry of disorienting system windows passed by. The current pain seemed to be the least of his problems. While barely steadying his rough breathing, he tried somehow to work his foggy mind.
