The Innocent Mage's Spellbinding Nights - Chapter 69
‘Even our saintly Tower Master can be jealous of someone,’ Estelle thought.
She had been feeling resentful about having to eat scraps of bread for dinner over the past few days because Hesed kept saying he was busy.
‘Ah, that hits the spot.’
Witnessing the new sides of the Tower Master and Vice Tower Master somehow filled the hunger in her belly.
“Wow, I didn’t realize how much time had passed while focusing on the lesson! I’ll be heading out now. Have a great time, you two!”
Estelle was a woman who knew when to step in and when to step out. Like a cockroach fleeing from humans, she quickly exited Hesed’s quarters.
Left alone in the awkward silence, Irina finally managed to speak.
“S-Sorry! It’s just that you haven’t been coming around much lately, and our relationship felt a bit distant. I came because I thought we should talk about it instead of worrying over uncertainties…”
Irina was so flustered that she barely knew what she was saying. Seeing her like this made Hesed quickly regain his composure.
“Did you think I had lost interest in you or that I was cheating on you, Senior?”
“Not exactly, but…”
She lowered her head quickly, embarrassed, since she couldn’t deny having such thoughts.
“I’m sorry.”
“Oh my goodness!”
Hesed sighed dramatically, resting his hand on his forehead.
“I thought I had proven my feelings adequately in battle and in bed, but I guess I was mistaken.”
“I told you, it’s my fault. For some reason, I just… can’t think rationally when it comes to you.”
Irina mumbled softly, her face turning red up to her ears. Hesed couldn’t resist kissing her adorable, flustered lips.
“Mmh…”
Her lips, familiar with his intrusion, parted willingly. As sweet saliva and hot breaths were exchanged, Irina felt something being slipped onto the ring finger of her right hand.
It was the very ring Hesed had been diligently crafting earlier. The emerald, resembling her eye color, shimmered softly.
“Ah, mmm.”
Hesed, who knew exactly how to make her feel ecstasy just with a kiss, whispered softly in her ear.
“It’s okay. I also become a fool whenever it comes to you, Senior.”
“It’s a problem if we’re both irrational.”
Breathing heavily, Irina murmured while Hesed kissed her palm.
“So, shouldn’t you take responsibility for making me and yourself fools, Senior?”
“Hesed.”
His lips moved to the finger wearing the ring.
“To clear up any doubts, I’ve been learning gem crafting and enchanting from Estelle recently because I wanted to make this engagement ring for you myself.”
“…!”
Irina’s eyes widened at the unexpected word. The emotions in her green eyes were pure surprise.
Relieved that she didn’t seem displeased or reluctant, Hesed continued.
“Irina, would you try touching the ring with a breeze?”
Irina delicately cast a wind spell, a specialty of the White Tower mages. The emerald on the ring absorbed the gentle breeze and began to glow brightly.
A mirage-like image appeared in the weak vortex above the ring. It was a collection of their memories, transformed into a picturesque scene—photos taken during a beach trip, casual snapshots at a cafe, and more. Irina couldn’t take her eyes off the display in the air.
“I want to remain by your side as your only partner and continue documenting our time together, filling your beautiful fingers with rings like this.”
His voice brimmed with such tender sincerity.
“Will you marry me, Irina?”
Despite being Hesed, even he couldn’t help but feel nervous at this moment, as his voice trembled slightly.
Irina saw his usually composed face now stiff with tension, trying to maintain a smile. People might call him a jerk, but in front of her, he was just a puppy constantly seeking affection.
“…Yes.”
Having become so accustomed and attached to his affection, how could she refuse?
“But don’t rush the ceremony too much. Your pace is too fast.”
“It’s all because you’re maddeningly beautiful, Senior.”
He responded like a child pouting, burying his face in her shoulder.
That night, the only thing Irina wore on the bed was the ring, which would later become one of the top three most treasured items of the White Tower, known as the first in the ‘Memorial Ring’ series.
