The Peerless Kobold - Chapter 164
“… Gauo, uoru varukuon gaua.” (…Amazing, it’s kind of unfair that he can use magic like that.)
Silva stared at the Elder Kobold who had his fist raised, his silver fur shining faintly due to the moonlight spilling through the trees. There was no doubt that he looked brave and heroic, but…
“Kau, woru wauoruau?” (Maybe he shouldn’t be called a sage at this point?)
To the kobolds of the Ancient Forest, the Elder Kobolds were heroes of knowledge who specialized in wisdom and magic, and were no match for warrior-type kobolds in fistfights.
Nevertheless, Archer fought like a seasoned warrior and won the battle against the two fearless fighters he was matched up against. She couldn’t help but be amazed at this fact, but if he could bring everyone together after demonstrating his overwhelming power, there wouldn’t be any question over his role in the battle to defeat the enemies.
“U~, vurua, gyaoan… aruva, guruo kuoruu?” (Aw, Hasta lost… Silva, we’re the rearguard, right?)
The petite Shiro immediately looks at Silva, seemingly concerned about their deployment in the upcoming battle.
“Uoon guruuau, gaoru.” (I’m not the one who decides it, he does.)
“Wau, woarua~” (Huh, I see.)
In the midst of the cheering crowd, Shiro turned his gaze at the silver kobold who was lowering his raised fist and catching his breath.
……………
………
…
“Fuuuuuuh…” (Fuuuuuuh…)
As I slowly exhaled, I suppressed the earth magic rushing throughout my body. The muscles that had been buffed up by the Adamantine Body slowly returned to their normal state, and although I felt some muscle pain afterwards, it was not as bad as when I first used it.
However, the basic physical abilities required for the Adamantine Body were too high for the average magic user to handle, and that was one of the reasons why the grimoire “Herculean Crushing” didn’t sell well…
“Woruuoau…” (Now on to business…)
The cheering gradually died down as I finished my declaration of victory in front of my brethren who surrounded and watched us as the match took place.
“Garuorua guruu woruuo aooonn! Gaoaruonn!!” (I will be in charge of the upcoming battle and I won’t accept any objections, got it!?)
“UWOOOOOOO!!”
After another round of cheers, it was agreed that the different kobold tribes would form a coalition, and Shiro timidly raised his hand.
“Au~, kuruau vurua kuruaan?” (Umm, can I heal Hasta now?)
“Wafuh.” (Sure.)
After some space was cleared, Shiro crouched down and placed his hand on the belly of Hasta who was stretched out on his back and concentrated Holy attribute magic on his palm.
“Gauh, kuruao~n.” (Ei, Holy Light of Healing~)
The warm light was absorbed into his body and healed his wounds, but there was little sign of him waking up.
“U~, garuaaauu, woau gauah!!” (Geez~, guess I have to wake him up this way!!)
“Uh, a…” (Uh, a…)
A moan escaped from Hasta’s mouth when he was overlaid with Awakening magic and his eyes immediately opened.
“Kuh, guaoau…” (Kuh, I lost, huh…)
“Wau, guorufu garufoa.” (Well, it just wasn’t your lucky day.)
While keeping an eye on Blau who was being treated by some members from Shiro’s tribe, Shiro offered his hand to Hasta who exchanged a few words with him and helped him up.
“…Aruo, ruauh, guruo kuruaoouu.” (Shiro, I’m sorry. You’ve been taking care of us and yet… )
“Waoruoaao~n, guruo kuoaruau.” (Don’t mind it~ You guys have also been helping us out after all.)
Judging from his seriously depressed expression, it seems Hasta has a strong sense of duty…
“U, woau kuruo wafoan…” (Yep, it looks like everything’s settled nicely over here…)
Just as Silva said when she approached me earlier, these two had a peaceful presence about them, while on the other hand, Blau was being scolded by his comrades.
“Wafi voruaonn, gurua!” (Why’d you get beaten so easily, Chief!?)
“Guruuo garuoaaan… Giuruau.” (Yeah, you even started the fight… That’s so uncool.)
“Gururuh, guruo garuoguruaaa woruaaaann!!” (Gununu, if you guys have any problems with me, then let’s just settle it here and now!!)
The huge, light brown kobold who was being one-sidedly blamed by his companions snapped, and it seemed like a brawl was about to begin…
“Gauh, voa fuaruguau!” (God, males are so stupid!)
(That’s harsh…)
I’m sure my sister and Lancer would have the same sentiments if they knew that the reason I was in my current situation was because I couldn’t control my curiosity and recklessly climbed the World Tree…
Anyway, Silva wore a slightly dismayed look as she headed towards them to stop the fight, and the trouble with the prick-eared kobolds tonight came to an end.
At around noon the next day, I waited for the night watchmen to wake up and held a briefing for the upcoming battle. It was just like last night, where Silva and I stood in an open area in the middle of the encampment, surrounded by a hundred or so of our kind.
“Garuuguruau kuoaruou woruauuh, varuga woruaaann!” (The enemy might have the advantage in numbers, but there’s nothing to fear; after all we have the upper hand in terms of mobility!)
Generally, kobolds and goblins are about equally matched in strength, but while we are inferior when it comes to dexterity, we make up for it with speed.
Additionally, compared to battles in open plains where all the participants collide at once, mobility is important since a group battle in the forest would force both sides to disperse into small groups during battle.
Also, long-range fighters such as archers and magic-users, especially archers who specialize in long-range sniping, carry a big advantage in the fight, so I will be organizing the handful of archers in Silva’s pack into a commando unit.
(…I guess my experience and training during my mercenary days came in handy.)
I meditated for a bit and thanked my stubborn vice-captain, Evans, at the back of my mind…
