The Peerless Kobold - Chapter 241
Normally, she could drive off these depressingly troublesome creatures with a single wave of her hand, but tonight, Kaede was working with her two companions so there was no need for that.
“Giie, Azere!” (Kaede, run away!)
As she turned around in the direction of the concerned voice, a hulking goblin leapt out from one of the rotting houses and drew a shining greatsword to flick away the approaching huge black flame with the flat of his blade.
Then, a lean bodied goblin who wielded a short and long blade in each of his hands leaped down from the roof of one of the ruins and crushed the skull of the skeleton as it tried to escape from the silver thread that Kaede was controlling.
“Aaa…AAAH!!”
However, the loss of its head was not enough to stop it, and it took advantage of the opening to grab at the goblin with both of its hands.
“Guh, detorauzu…” (Guh, so annoying…)
Sword, the Goblin Swordsman who wielded twin blades, frowned as the skeleton tried to strangle him and thrust his left-hand dagger into its pelvis to cut its mana core with a flash of purple electricity. After that, he proceeded to head to his next target.
Wearing a look of satisfaction on her face as she watched the two goblins fight on her behalf, Kaede decided to watch from high up and stealthily retreated to a safe place alone.
“This is a good opportunity for you, so work hard without dying!”
“You’re saying something selfish again…”
In response to her irresponsible words, Brave, the former Goblin Hero, opened his mouth wide while cursing her out fluently in the common continental language.
“KOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!”
He shot out a torrent of holy light from his mouth and cleaved the black flame attack that the Nightmare launched towards him into two, and rushed into the midst of the dark-colored mana residues floating about.
“Gareh, giudo!!” (Go away, you’re in the way!!)
“Uauuuu”
Ignoring the skeleton that stepped out to block him, Brave forcefully stepped forward, adapted a side stance with his greatsword pointing down, and unleashed a powerful upward slash.
“U-ua…”
The poor skeleton was knocked into the air as it came into contact with the flat of his blade, scattering the white bones that made up its body. Without pause, Brave used the momentum of his slash attack to shatter the skull of another skeleton at the back and further cut it into two, right down to the pelvis.
The dark power that controlled the skeletons is also cut off by the holy light, and the skeletons surrounding it fell to the ground as if their threads have been severed. Sword was impressed by his partner’s physical strength and could not help but praise him.
“… Gioridiasu” (… Impressive)
“A-a, aaa…”
With a small mumble, Sword cut off a skeleton’s arm with his blade and moved closer to its chest and finished it by crushing the magical core in its pelvis with the lightning dagger in his right hand.
Taking advantage of the gap after the attack, another skeleton approached Sword from behind, but…
“Gih, gioruzeasu!!” (Hah, you really don’t get it do you!!)
“Aaah!?”
The skeleton flew upwards as it connected with a back kick. The dark energy powering it was cut off as Sword turned around and hit it along the spine with the purple lightning that covered his blade.
Feeling a certain response, he turned around and looked around the village square. On the other side of the plaza, a bunch of skeletons trapped in Kaede’s silver threads struggled to break free as Brave cut into the Nightmare which was the main culprit.
“GIOOOOOOOOOOH!!” (UOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!)
“Gugyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!”
The main body of the Nightmare swelled as it screamed in an unpleasant-sounding voice. A huge, rotten arm shot out to crush the annoying goblin. A blade covered in glittering light flew out of nowhere and cut into the arm without any resistance!
“Gugyaaaa!?”
“Rezesuh!” (Watch out!)
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Brave quickly pulled out the great sword and held it at waist-level. Then, putting all his strength into his stiff arms, he swung his blade and pierced the hideous lump of human flesh. However, the contact created a momentary gap, and the human-faced sores detached from the Nightmare and bit into his arms, shoulders, and sides and consumed his flesh and blood.
