The Princeliest Prince of All - Chapter 3
However, it had already been five years since Sera started working here, and no matter how foul-tempered and prickly her superior was, one eventually gets used to it.
Sera broke into a cold sweat under Leonard’s gaze, which seemed like it could burn her alive.
“I thought Your Highness wouldn’t be back yet….”
“When I’m not here, everything turns into a mess, it seems.”
Leonard turned his head, looking around.
A worn-out water bucket soaking the carpet.
A dry rag lying on the sofa.
It was a complete mess.
Sera, who thought the results would justify the means, bowed her head in shame.
“No, it’s just me, just me….”
His fierce gaze pierced through her, as if to separate her flesh from her bones.
The man, who was already quite tall, loomed over her with a sense of intimidation, making Sera’s body curl even more.
In the five years they had brushed past each other, Leonard seemed to have grown even larger and more foul-tempered.
Shaking all over, Sera firmly resolved and bowed at a ninety-degree angle like a gangster.
“I have committed a grave sin worthy of death!”
“Then die.”
“Um, well, just because it’s a grave sin doesn’t mean I have to, uh, die….”
Sera sneaked a glance upwards.
Though they shared the same golden eyes, Leonard’s were completely different from Leticia’s.
If Leticia’s golden eyes reminded one of a bountiful golden wheat field, Leonard’s were pure metal.
They looked like they would freeze her entire body if touched.
Leonard could not tolerate the dust on his body, the dirtied desk, or anything else.
He had to get rid of these impurities immediately, especially the dirty woman who brought them.
Leonard spat out his words as if chewing them.
“Ha, let’s just burn this whole place down.”
“Pardon?”
“Everything is contaminated, so it should all be burnt and rebuilt. I’ll bill the cost of the books to your family.”
Leonard’s eyes were obviously deranged as he said this.
Considering each book cost as much as a commoner’s monthly living expenses, if all the books in the study were burned….
A quick mental calculation was done.
Sera Brandt was bankrupt.
Completely.
“Your Highness…! Please have mercy!”
Without thinking, Sera threw herself to the ground.
Leonard, startled by her sudden prostration, took a few steps back.
At his feet was the wooden ladder that had fallen over earlier.
“Your Highness!”
Even combining all the books in the study wouldn’t cost more than her body.
Sera didn’t hesitate and threw herself forward.
Earlier, the prince had cushioned her fall, so now she was willing to do the same.
Thunk, her back and bottom hit the carpeted floor hard.
Then another thud, as the prince’s solid body slammed into Sera’s, which lacked any muscles due to her lazy life.
Owwwww.
Sera carefully opened her eyes, which had instinctively shut.
Her vision was filled with an excessive shine.
What she thought were golden buttons were actually Leonard’s enlarged golden eyes.
This was the second time today she had come into contact with someone.
His eyes reflected his inner turmoil.
What if the prince went crazy, Sera thought, carefully opening her mouth.
“Your Highness, are you okay….”
Leonard’s eyelashes quivered.
Was it because he was the brother of the female protagonist?
Up close, Leonard’s face was as handsome as Leticia’s was beautiful.
In fact, if not for his prickliness, he was quite the ideal male lead in a romance fantasy.
For a brief moment, Sera was entranced by his face, forgetting reality.
“Are you okay,”
“Ugh… uuuurk!”
Until the handsome supporting character vomited right next to her head.
Urkk, urrrrp, the continued retching sounds shattered Sera’s fantasy completely.
Not seeing Sera’s expression, which had gone cold, Leonard lost consciousness.
* * *
Leonard woke up again in the late afternoon, as the sky turned red.
How long had he been out?
All he knew was that he was still in the study and lying on a sofa.
What had happened?
Leonard slowly tried to recall.
A crazy woman had fallen on him out of nowhere, and then he had fallen on her.
“Your Highness, you’re awake?”
Suddenly, a head of brown hair appeared in his sight.
It was that crazy woman from before.
Leonard, whose headache intensified, touched his temples.
“Why are you still here?”
“I was going to call for someone… but you looked too, um, disgraceful….”
“It’s a wonder you haven’t been executed with that mouth.”
Hmph, not appreciating my loyalty.
Sera had agonized over and over again while trapped under the unconscious Leonard.
Could she tell anyone that the noble prince had vomited and then fainted just because he had touched another person?
Deciding it would be too humiliating, Sera wriggled out from under him.
She then dragged the unbearably heavy prince to the sofa and cleaned up the vomit.
She also finished cleaning the study while at it.
In the end, it turned out to be the right choice.
If it had been Leonard on a usual day, he wouldn’t have cared to hide his well-known mysophobia, but today, he had been thoroughly scolded by the empress and didn’t want to report such a trivial accident.
“Shall I call someone now…?”
“No need.”
As Leonard slowly regained his senses, he realized something wet was on his forehead.
Something damp was daring to touch him.
Leonard grabbed the wet cloth or whatever it was.
