The Princeliest Prince of All - Chapter 5
The next day, the head maid assigned Sera her first official duty.
She was to be Prince Leonard’s personal maid, following him around like a shadow wherever he went.
There was no doubt about who had given this order.
Sera stomped her feet in frustration as she headed to her new post.
On the third floor of the prince’s palace, in front of Leonard’s bedroom, she met a familiar handsome man.
Evan Faylin, though a supporting character, had silver hair and blue eyes that could rival the male lead’s looks.
He was the Prince’s right-hand man.
“Hello, Sir Evan!”
“You’re just in time. He’s waiting for you.”
So he was waiting for her. How wonderful.
Sera wiped the cheerful look off her face and stood with a rebellious posture.
“That’s the most depressing thing I’ve heard from you so far….”
“I was a bit surprised when I heard the news myself… but please, go in.”
Evan looked at Sera with genuine sympathy.
When the prince mentioned last night that some crazy woman had attacked him and he had plans to use her thoroughly, Evan hadn’t expected it to be Sera.
Though she was overly bright and confident, Sera Brandt was considered relatively normal.
Moreover, the plan Leonard mentioned was quite radical.
However, Leonard was indeed cornered.
Sera turned away from Evan and knocked on the door out of courtesy before opening it abruptly.
“Hello. Good morning….”
Sera greeted with a lifeless expression, akin to a worker starting on a Monday.
Leonard was already fully dressed and sitting at the tea table.
Sera approached him with a face full of reluctance.
On the table were some yellowed papers and a pen.
“Welcome, Sera Brandt.”
“I heard Your Highness was looking for me….”
Sera openly displayed her dissatisfaction.
She wanted to convey just how annoyed she was that he had sought her out.
Unfortunately, Leonard was not one to be swayed by such trivialities, having lived his life treating even smiling people as contaminants.
“Didn’t I tell you yesterday? I’ll collect the cost of the books— With your body.”
“Please save such misleading comments for someone who would want to misunderstand….”
“Good. That’s the right attitude. Sit down.”
When your employer orders, you have no choice but to obey.
Sighing dramatically, Sera sat across from Leonard.
She harbored the futile hope that blowing another breath at him might get her expelled.
“Read this.”
Sera reluctantly took the document Leonard handed her and began to read.
The word <Contract> was prominently displayed at the top.
The first line indicated that Leonard was Party A, and Sera was Party B.
“A contract…?”
“I hear the Brandt family’s finances are in quite a predicament.”
“Yes. Like Princess Leticia, I don’t have much luck with my brother.”
Their conversation was even less filtered as Sera focused on the contract.
Leonard pointed to the lower part of the document.
“If you read the bottom, you’ll see that it not only waives the cost of the books you contaminated but also provides substantial compensation.”
“Hold on. I’m still reading the top.”
The contract had terms listed in detail.
Article 1: Sera Brandt shall wholeheartedly cooperate in Prince Leonard’s training with her body and mind.
Article 2: She shall spread the word about the training results in various ways.
What is this, medieval viral marketing?
“I don’t understand what this means.”
“You really are slow.”
Leonard’s sneer made Sera’s face twist in anger.
Is he telling her to cooperate or not?
Clearing his throat, Leonard explained further.
“You know I despise anything unclean.”
“Yes. That’s why you hate me too….”
Though her response was laced with bitterness, Leonard didn’t mind.
To him, except himself, everyone and even his family were filthy, so he didn’t consider it excessive to point out a mere maid’s dirtiness.
“Anyway. The empress said that if I continue to avoid contact with others, I won’t be able to have an heir, and thus, I won’t inherit the throne.”
“That makes sense. Have you ever held a woman’s hand?”
Sera nodded compliantly.
Leonard flinched at her pointed remark.
In the original story Sera had read, Leonard did eventually inherit the throne.
But it was true he couldn’t have heirs.
He had married a duke’s daughter but couldn’t even spend the first night with her.
Leonard sighed deeply, looking weary.
“So, I told her I was improving.”
“You haven’t improved at all.”
“I plan to, using you.”
Today, even the dogs in the main palace seemed to be barking.
Sera carefully pieced together the contract’s content and Leonard’s words.
Suddenly, the contract seemed very unsanitary to her.
She lifted the corner of the contract with her fingertips and waved it.
“So… Your Highness is going to use my body, and I’m supposed to go around telling everyone that you laid your hands on me and assaulted me? Whu—?”
