The Prince's Taste - Chapter 4.6
Was there a supporting character with silver hair and red eyes in the original story? All she could remember were the scenes, but a man with such looks could never be an extra. Moreover, in a story where a dark-haired male lead was the protagonist, a silver-haired man would be 100% sub-protagonist.
‘I guess that would be candidate 1 or 2 in Ella’s fish bowl, huh?’
Quietly, she turned her back on him. Ignoring him and pretending not to see him, she tried to leave her spot, but his chilling voice rooted her feet to the ground.
“Do you know what happened to those who turned their backs on me?”
It’s a line she’d heard many times before. Surely he isn’t saying the same thing as Richard? She asked cautiously.
“…..what happened?”
Damn curiosity. Why would she ask such a thing? Judy Esther puffed out her cheeks in frustration.
“Their necks were separated from their torso.”
“Surely your question was not directed at me, was it?”
Her survival instincts kicked in. If she were the female lead, it would be okay to talk comfortably, but the damn fate of a supporting actor is to be careful with their words. Well, there’s no harm in being cautious. She’s not cowardly.
“What should I do with you, who keeps turning your back on me even though you know its consequences?
“I only showed you my back because it’s the prettiest part of my body.”
“Ha. You’re so amusing, my sword is begging to cut you down.”
She turned around, touching her long neck. The man watching her smiled satisfactorily. Judy Esther perceived herself facing a madman.
“From where I’m standing, your face is the prettiest. Were you lying to me?”
“Not at all. There isn’t a single part of me that isn’t pretty.”
“You dare say that about yourself?”
Judy Esther pouted. He’s complimenting her on her beauty, yet threatening to behead her?
“It’s not a crime to acknowledge beauty where beauty exists.”
“Aren’t you even a little curious about what happens to people who talk back to me?”
“Not really. If you’re the kind of person who’ll cut off someone’s head just for turning their back on you, I already have a pretty good idea.”
Her voice was utterly flat. She had just shaken off one headache, only to run straight into another.
“I see now why he took an interest in you.”
“Excuse me?”
“That you’re my kind of girl.”
Meh…
Judy Esther had zero interest in attracting Ella’s school of fish.
This kind of situation was the perfect recipe for disaster. It was exactly how villainesses got misunderstood. She thought this man must like her, but he’s on Ella’s side. But if she got tangled up with him, she’d either die because of him or die with him.
In most villainess executions, if the male lead hesitates to deliver the punishment, this is always the character likely to step in and demand a terrible punishment. If he doesn’t get his way, he’ll backstab her — usually this is the case when the submissive is the leader of a dark guild. And eventually, the villainess suffers an excruciating death.
“Isn’t he the head of the Dark House?”
Judy Esther wondered about the identity of the man who looked at her like he was going to eat her. But he didn’t seem likely to tell her the truth, and somehow she didn’t think she should know. Worst of all, those burning, red eyes.
It was ominous. If golden eyes gave off a cool impression, red eyes were downright chilling. While Richard was the type to act after careful consideration, this man seemed like he would act impulsively.
Judy Esther wanted to quickly get away from him, but the problem was the festive crowd clogging the street. She couldn’t pick up speed, and even if she tried to run, it would only be a matter of time before she was caught.
Suddenly, she felt a surge of irritation. Why were these people bothering her instead of sticking to Ella? She thought about snapping at them, but then she reminded herself, “I’m not the heroine.” Rebellion from the villainess would only lead to her head being separated from her body, so she had to suppress her temper.
“You’re not my cup of tea, so I’ll decline.”
“Well, this is a first. I’ve never been rejected before.”
It was expected. With a face as handsome as a sculpture and a body to match, it was hard to imagine him being rejected often.
It’s always tough the first time, but he would probably get used to it soon. After all, he would likely be rejected by Ella soon enough.
“Also, this is the first time I’ve seen a woman look at me with pitying eyes!”
“Maybe you’ll be the first to be rejected after falling in love.”
