- Chapter 1.1 - 1. His Majesty's First Kiss is with the Chicken Princess?
The Kingdom of Syenn.
People called it by these names. The forgotten kingdom, the abandoned land, the cursed place.
More than a hundred years ago, on the coming-of-age day of Princess Soria, the sole heir to the Kingdom of Syenn, a curse cast by a magician swallowed up the kingdom that had lasted for half a millennium.
And at the center of it all was ‘Syenn Brianne V. Soria’.
She snapped her fingers at the curse pouring down on her, but it was already too late.
The magic circle glowing beneath her feet dissipated before it could even activate. The mana that had been flowing freely throughout her body was forcibly blocked.
The king and queen let out agonized screams as they watched their daughter’s golden hair, which had made everyone who saw it smile like the shining sunlight, turn stark white.
Soria thus fell to the ground, having lost everything at the most splendid place, at the happiest moment.
The curse that swallowed her spread throughout the entire kingdom.
Along the border between foreign countries and Syenn, thorny vines with long spikes shot up endlessly into the sky.
Allied nations drew their swords to save the Kingdom of Syenn, but all failed.
The thorny vines that rose along the border grew inward, driving the people out. The citizens of Syenn, having lost their homes, had no choice but to pack up and leave in search of a new place to live.
The vines generously cleared the way for those trying to leave, and at the end of the long line of people were the knights, servants, and maids who had guarded the palace.
People would gather in small groups and talk about how only the king, queen, and the cursed princess remained behind the tall thorny vines, guarding the white castle of the Kingdom of Syenn.

Soria woke up at her usual time.
Although it had been almost a hundred years since she survived alone, her days didn’t differ much.
Today was no exception.
Soria, the only remaining royal of the abandoned land, the Kingdom of Syenn, woke up before sunrise and diligently tended to her motherland. She pecked at the weeds growing between the stone floors to eat, moistened her throat with water collected on round leaves, and circled the palace, digging up the ground with her sharp claws.
As always.
It was when the sun was high in the sky that she felt something different from usual.
Even though the curse prevented her from using proper magic, her innate genius remained unchanged. Soria lifted her head as she sensed the barrier stretched along the castle walls shattering.
It felt as if every single one of her feathers was standing on end. She shook, making a gurgling sound in her throat.
‘My goodness, finally.’
In a situation she had long dreamed of but never thought would come true, she started fluttering and running towards the inner palace.
‘Someone’s here. Someone’s here! Finally, a hero has come!’
Today marked 147 years and 3 days of this wretched life. Soria hurried to see the brave soul who had crossed the border of the Kingdom of Syenn, which no one had been able to invade until now and reached the deepest part, the royal palace.
‘To think someone broke through that damn pervert’s barrier. Oh my, Goddess, you haven’t abandoned me after all!’
Soria tried to suppress the emotions welling up inside her.
Although many years had passed, it felt as if the magician’s vile laughter still lingered in her ears.
The memory of his despicable face, as he muttered the method to break the curse, was so vivid that Soria fluttered in irritation and kicked the ground.
‘Let’s stop thinking about that bastard.’
Finally, she could escape. Isn’t that the most important thing?
Her movements as she kicked off the low wall separating the palace buildings were extraordinary. She leaped over the open window and entered her room.
Even as the long-abandoned palace became old and dilapidated, she had put all her effort into protecting this one room.
Thanks to that, unlike the exterior which had long been conquered by vines, her room was impeccably clean. It was a room prepared for this day. After all, isn’t the first impression always the most important?
Soria wiped her legs on the damp cloth she always kept ready on the windowsill, then settled herself on an expensive cushion made of red silk.
Puffing herself up as much as possible to look dignified, she sat up straight and stared at the door. Her yellow eyes, reminiscent of sunlight, were sparkling with excitement.
The doorknob turned. The creaking sound of the door, which hadn’t been oiled for a long time, was loud.
Soria, firmly believing that everything would return to normal soon, including that door regaining its proper function, looked at her savior.
The door opened. And then…….
“……A chicken?”
A man’s bewildered voice echoed through the room.
The man who opened the door and entered was wearing quite expensive-looking clothes.
No matter how expensive the clothes were, his impolite attitude was not at all to her liking. However, Soria pretended not to notice. Even she thought it would be shocking to see a chicken as soon as the door opened.
Soria quietly observed the man’s jet-black hair and red eyes. She didn’t know much about heroes or warriors, but she at least knew that they wore armor. They should at least be carrying a sword.
However, the man who entered the room had none of these things.
Her small head tilted to the side.
‘Warrior? Hero? Prince?’
She rolled her eyes around, trying hard to find any sign that would indicate which one he was, but nothing was visible.
The man was wearing a black uniform, and only the emblem engraved on what seemed to be gold buttons indicated his status.
Soria’s eyes narrowed. Two eagles with their claws raised in the air, and two swords crossing between them.
‘What is that emblem?’
While Soria was puzzling over the emblem she had never seen before, the man was recovering from shock in a different sense.
He looked around the room. The princess of the Kingdom of Syenn, whom he had believed without a doubt would be there, was nowhere to be found in the room.
He pulled back the long canopy, but the bed covered with white sheets was empty.
He turned his gaze to the foot of the bed with an incredulous expression. No matter how he looked, the only thing in the room was a chicken sitting on a cushion, staring straight at him. And it was a chicken with white feathers and yellow eyes.
Renok, after staring at the plump chicken for a moment, soon frowned and started searching the room. Despite personally coming to break the long-standing curse, the sleeping princess was nowhere to be found, no matter how hard he looked.
His face crumpled terribly.
