The Princess's Spectacular Abduction - Chapter 15
“Hah… shi…. you distracted, stupid, woman-crazed bastard…….”
Even to his ears, the self-directed swearing seemed particularly apt.
Nina, cradled in his arms, misunderstood Ravian’s unusual self-deprecation.
“Just, just leave me alone…”
“What? Hey, I’m not annoyed at you.”
Instead of replying, Nina let out a feverish sigh, clearly unimpressed.
“Listen, kid. I’m just lamenting how my subordinates, supposedly leaders, have empty heads… Ahem, I mean, how my underlings are foolish enough to feed Sally Juice to a child.”
Finally, Nina lifted her head slightly and looked at Ravian with weary eyes.
“I always had that when I was sick…”
Ravian found himself inadvertently staring at her sweat-drenched forehead.
What sort of absurdity was this?
The empire’s First Princess had been regularly consuming Salamander Juice when sick?
It seemed more plausible that she had confused it with another juice.
“You shouldn’t talk too much when you’re sick; you need absolute rest.”
Rambling on, Ravian headed to his own bedroom.
In a hurry, he found a clean shirt to change Nina into and laid her down in his bed.
Nina curled up under the thick duvet, exhaling feverishly.
Her small face was as red as an apple, whether from fever or the juice, it was hard to tell.
After pacing anxiously for a moment, Ravian suddenly dashed to his study, returning with an ice bucket and towel usually reserved for drinks.
Hoping that a cold compress might alleviate some discomfort, he set to work.
Even a child’s conditions for reducing fever must be similar.
“Damn idiots, no matter how rough the back alleys are… Ahem, kid, let’s have some water.”
“Don’t wanna, gonna puke.”
“That’s why you need to drink.”
As Nina stubbornly shook her head refusing, Ravian forcefully lifted her and anxiously bit his lip.
‘When are these idiots going to arrive!’
He didn’t understand why he was so fretful and flustered.
Was it fear of something happening to the little brat?
That it might throw all his plans into disarray?
‘What a joke.’
It wasn’t funny that he was afraid something would happen to Leopold’s daughter.
Nina, forced to take a few sips of water, suddenly turned her head and coughed violently.
“Cough, cough…! You’re bad, mister!”
He was used to being called the bad guy, but this time it felt particularly unjust.
“What, did you think kidnappers are supposed to be nice?”
Nina gave Ravian a feverish glare before slumping back down.
Ravian was exasperated.
“Tiny thing, and yet so fiery.”
As he tsked and prepared to place an ice pack on her burning forehead,
“Doctor, hek, doctor! Boss! The kid! Where?”
“Here!”
Suddenly, Keith came tumbling into the room with a loud crash.
In one arm, a doctor dressed hastily over pajamas clung on with a bewildered expression.
“Quickly, hek, the kid! Help!”
“Is the patient this child?”
“Who else would it be, you quack!”
Ravian’s demon-like fury nearly made the underworld doctor Oscar’s knees buckle, but he managed to keep his professional composure.
“Please lower your voice, it’s not good for the patient. Especially for such a young child.”
The professional underworld doctor’s cool rebuke had a certain power to embarrass his counterpart, making Ravian calm down just a tad.
Of course, just a tad.
“Would you two mind waiting outside while I examine the patient?”
“What? No way. Why would I trust you with…?”
“If you don’t trust me, then why did you drag me here in the middle of the night?”
“Just shut up and treat her, damn it!”
Ravian bellowed again.
Keith, who had been sprawled on the floor catching his breath, also snapped back.
“Stop shouting, it’s not good for the kid!”
Apparently, neither of the men realized just how harmful their very presence was, creating such a toxic atmosphere.
Lacking the courage to argue further, Oscar silently proceeded with examining Nina.
