The Princess's Spectacular Abduction - Chapter 16
It was indeed peculiar for such a young girl, evidently not a street child, to be in the lair of the Anubis gang.
However, Oscar was a true professional who didn’t give a damn about his clients’ personal lives.
If you’re going to make a name for yourself as an illegal medical practitioner in this underworld, it’s mutually beneficial to stay out of each other’s business.
But…
“Ahem, Keith mentioned that the child was accidentally given Sally Juice. How did such a thing happen?”
“Well, she asked for it…”
“What did you say?”
Oscar opened his mouth exaggeratedly and made an expression of incredulity, looking desperately pathetic. It was to timidly retaliate against the abuse he had suffered from them.
“My goodness, you can’t just give her anything she asks for! Do you think the saying that you can’t even drink cold water in front of a child is for nothing?”
“No, it wasn’t like that… I was hesitant, but Mira…”
The two miscreants rambled on with their poorly contorted faces, much to Oscar’s amusement.
To witness such a response from these formidable and usually domineering clients was a rare victory.
A sense of unexpected superiority began to rise within Oscar, his expression turning earnest and solemn.
“Well, what’s done is done. Fortunately, the medicine I’ve brought should rectify the situation.”
“Really?”
“Yes. Please be more careful in the future. Even a small amount of Sally Juice can be lethal to a child. In some cases, children have never woken up after accidentally ingesting it.”
“I’m aware of that much…”
“Children at this age are going to copy whatever adults do, so try to stay away from anything that’s not good for them. Especially things like Sally Juice, which you should never leave within reach of a child.”
Ravian, who had finally regained his composure, spoke up again.
“Why are you being so smug about this, you quack? Because of course I know that, and of course I’ve never done it before!”
“Yeah, well, you sure as hell don’t think we don’t know basic common sense like that!”
“It’s so noisy.”
The words echoed out of nowhere, followed by a silence like cold water.
As Ravian and Keith stood frozen in place, glaring at each other, Oscar grew impatient.
“What did I say…….”
“Shut up, my head hurts.”
Nina, who had been lying dead, spoke again.
As if the unexpected fever wasn’t bad enough, it wasn’t getting any quieter around her, and made her feel like she was dying.
Now, with his authority undermined in front of a dubious doctor, Ravian’s expression grew even more ferocious.
“Why do you have to pretend to be an adult? Where did you learn to be so mean?” he asked.
“Don’t be so harsh with a baby-“
“You need to get a grip, you little bastard, this is all because of your stupidity in the first place!”
While Keith scrambled for a response, Nina, gasping for breath, forced her heavy eyelids open.
She was desperately trying to compose herself, but her pain and the tumult of emotions made it difficult.
“I told you to leave me alone…!”
She snapped, with her nose tingling uncontrollably, a sharp retort cut short.
Nina buried her head in the blanket to hide her tears, groaning in frustration.
‘I shouldn’t be like this.’
Tears of frustration and annoyance kept welling up.
‘I shouldn’t be like this,’ she thought, ‘like a normal six-year-old crybaby.
Like her own dreams, just a useless child who does nothing but cry every day…
“The boss made the baby cry. And a sick baby at that.”
