The Revenge Kidnapping Drama's Transmigrated Female Lead - Chapter 26
An awkward silence fell over the room. Serdin casually scanned the pair from head to toe before tilting his head slightly and letting out a scoff.
“What the hell are you doing? Can’t even get one woman to eat properly?”
“…Ha.”
Rezus hadn’t expected Serdin to barge in like this. While it was true that the heads of the Arje families maintained an ostensibly equal relationship, the truth was that as the leader, Rezus’s authority far exceeded that of the others. Serdin, technically, had no right to interfere with him.
Rezus let out a low, humorless laugh through clenched teeth. The absurdity of the situation was enough to make him laugh in disbelief.
“You really don’t know when to stop.”
His lips twisted into a smile, but his eyes were icy as he stared at Serdin. His tone, however, was unsettlingly soft, betraying none of the hostility in his gaze.
“Did I give you permission to come in?”
“Does that matter right now? Stop wasting time and get out. I’ll handle it.”
“…….”
“You’re busy. I’m less busy, so I’ll take over keeping an eye on her.”
Serdin pushed the door open wider, lifting his chin arrogantly, signaling for Rezus to leave. Rezus, who had been silently staring at Serdin with an unreadable expression, slowly ran a hand through his bangs. He exhaled deeply, his gaze drifting toward the ceiling. It was hard to tell whether he was trying to calm his anger or simply feigning indifference.
Rezus’s eyes returned to Serdin, and his large frame began to move deliberately. Sensing the shift in the atmosphere, Serdin’s expression gradually hardened, realizing the undercurrent of tension.
“I’ve been too lenient with you, and now you think you can climb over my head.”
Standing close to Serdin, Rezus murmured quietly, his tone ominous. His gaze flickered briefly to Psyche before he fell silent. Then, as if dispelling the heavy air, he let out a short laugh and placed a firm hand on Serdin’s shoulder before letting go.
“Force her to eat.”
With that, he brushed past Serdin and walked out of the room.
“…….”
An uneasy silence settled over the room. The tension in the air had been thick enough to expect an explosion, but Rezus’s unexpected retreat left Psyche bewildered. She stared blankly at his retreating figure, unsure of what to make of it.
Meanwhile, Serdin scowled deeply, rubbing the shoulder Rezus had grabbed. He muttered under his breath,
“Damn it, that hurt like hell. That bastard even used his ability…”
Just as Psyche was about to ask if Serdin was alright, another voice came from the doorway.
“You okay, Serdin?”
It was Helios. He had his arms crossed and was leaning casually against the doorframe. When exactly had he arrived?
“…Get lost.”
Serdin growled menacingly, but Helios only smiled faintly and playfully knocked on the already open door.
“Phrena, may I come in as well?”
“Didn’t you hear? Get lost.”
Serdin’s face hardened even more fiercely. Psyche glanced back and forth between the two men, then decided it would be best to redirect Serdin’s focus to her. Taking a step closer to him, she gazed at him with concern.
“Serdin, are you okay?”
“…Why wouldn’t I be? Just sit down and eat.”
With an awkward expression, Serdin gestured toward the table. Psyche naturally shifted the topic.
“But earlier, you said something about keeping an eye on me… What did you mean by that?”
The response came from Helios.
“For the time being, we’ve decided to take turns keeping an eye on Phrena during meals.”
“Why…?”
“You’ve been skipping meals almost entirely until now, and it’s led to you falling ill. We’ll only keep watch until your body recovers, so you don’t need to worry too much.”
“Ah…”
So, they planned to monitor her at every meal. It was as she had suspected from the moment she woke up and saw Rezus. Psyche quickly blinked as though she knew nothing, then bit her lower lip and sighed softly.
“…I see. I understand what you’re saying.”
“If you understand, then just eat your meal. And you, get out.”
As Serdin grabbed Psyche’s wrist and guided her to the table, Helios, with a gentle smile, asked,
“Phrena, who do you think would be better to keep an eye on you, between the two of us?”
“Are your ears blocked? Didn’t you hear me tell you to get lost?”
“If Phrena tells me to leave, I will.”
