The Revenge Kidnapping Drama's Transmigrated Female Lead - Chapter 52
“Or should I come to you?”
“……”
Psyche’s eyelashes trembled as she lowered her gaze. He was the type of man who would make her listen one way or another if she didn’t comply. She took reluctant steps. Though her pace was frustratingly slow, Helios didn’t rush her. He merely stared at her intently.
“Eat.”
After thoroughly scanning Psyche up and down as she reached the dining room, he nodded toward the table.
“Ha.”
A hollow laugh escaped through her teeth. Psyche slowly took a deep breath while staring into space, then gave Helios a courteous smile.
“While I appreciate your hospitality, unfortunately, I’ll have to postpone the meal. I’m not strong-stomached enough to eat in front of someone like you.”
Helios didn’t lose his smile even at her cold response. Quietly smiling, he spoke in a low voice.
“You must want to eat.”
“No, as I said earlier…”
That’s when Helios lifted one of the silver platters covering the food. Psyche looked down at the food on the plate with an unchanged expression.
But as one large lid was removed to reveal the food, then two, then three, then four, small cracks began to form in her expression.
When the last silver platter was opened, Psyche’s eyes were wide with shock.
“These are all your favorites, aren’t they?”
“……”
She covered her mouth and stepped back hesitantly. If these were merely foods she liked, she wouldn’t have been this surprised.
The table was composed ‘only’ of the foods she ‘most’ preferred.
Among amuse-bouche, Psyche most loved monaka filled with fig. For soup, she often enjoyed bisque soup full of shrimp, and for scallops, she preferred them grilled with thinly sliced pear and kiwi. She favored lobster over steak, and preferred eating it drenched in almond gazpacho.
Potato terrine full of truffle aroma, poached eggs with wafting herb fragrance, and milk ice cream garnished with honey and chocolate soil were also among her most favorite foods, and amazingly, all of these were on the table. Even the plating was done in the way she most preferred.
However, far from making her mouth water, her throat tightened. Her pupils began to quiver slightly as she looked down at the food.
“Did you… plant your people in my mansion?”
If not that, there was no way to explain all of this.
Psyche bit her lower lip hard. Helios’s gaze as he watched her was impossibly gentle.
“You just realized that now?”
“Why…?”
“I liked you but had no way to make you recognize me.”
“…What do you want from me, doing all this?”
“Right now, this.”
Helios gestured at the table with his chin and smiled playfully with his eyes.
“Please enjoy your meal.”
She remained silent. If she refused to eat, he would make her eat somehow. Similar to how he made her walk to him earlier on her own feet.
But her appetite had completely vanished, and she didn’t want to eat. As she worried, not knowing what to do, the man’s voice penetrated her ears.
“Actually, I’d prefer if you didn’t eat. I can see the time for s*x gradually diminishing.”
His voice, getting lower toward the end, sounded more dangerous and languid than usual.
“It’s starting to bother me.”
Her shoulders tensed. Psyche gritted her teeth and sat down.
“I’ll eat. I happen to be hungry anyway.”
“Yes, enjoy your meal.”
Helios raised the corners of his mouth widely, as if welcoming Psyche as she picked up her utensils.
The food was excellent. Enough to stimulate an appetite that wasn’t there.
Having starved for a whole day, Psyche didn’t leave more than half her food as usual, and Helios seemed very satisfied watching this.
“Phrena, you look stunningly beautiful even while eating.”
Psyche hesitated as she was taking her last bite of ice cream. Finding no value in responding to those words, she put down her spoon and looked around. Her eyes found water that would clean her mouth.
Psyche immediately stood from her chair and headed to the small washbasin attached to the dining room. As she repeated rinsing and spitting water, a large shadow loomed over her. Helios had pressed close behind her.
“Phrena.”
His hot breath transferred unfiltered to her ear and neck.
“Beg me too.”
The man’s voice spread through the quiet night with a strange resonance.
“You never know, I might be the only one here who can protect you.”
Psyche drew in a breath. Using what she had pleaded to Serdin last night in this way – should she say this was typical of Helios?
She slowly steadied her breathing and turned around. Their eyes met at close distance.
“…It seems you want to see me beg.”
Psyche added, raising her lips crookedly.
