The Sickly Transmigrator Hides the Fact that He Became a Puppy - Chapter 5.1
Yi Hyeon concluded that there must be a reason he’d ended up in Louie’s body. The eerie, woman’s voice he’d heard right before saving Louie had to have some meaning.
“She mentioned something about a birthday.”
Yi Hyeon developed a theory.
Perhaps Louie, who cared deeply for Han Joon, had met his tragic fate because he’d wanted to stay for Han Joon’s birthday, unable to pass on. As much as it sounded like a story from a novel or comic, turning into a dog was equally unrealistic.
‘If I can spend his birthday with Han Joon as Louie… maybe Louie’s spirit can find peace and finally pass on to the other side. And maybe… I can return to my original body.’
With this hope, Yi Hyeon knew he first had to figure out where his real body was. Despite the challenge, being essentially confined to the house as Louie, he discovered it faster than expected.
“Are you certain? We trust you because you haven’t had a single incident in five year.”
Han Joon said, holding Yi Hyeon as they arrived at a pet café a little ways from home. Hiding his face in Han Joon’s firm chest, Yi Hyeon tried to avoid the curious gazes of others.
This was because, before leaving, Han Joon had put him in a gaudy dress he had no idea where he’d ordered from. It was so frilly with lace everywhere. And, to make matters worse, Han Joon had even plopped an oversized bow on his little head. Despite Yi Hyeon’s overwhelming embarrassment, Han Joon had showered him with kisses on his flustered face.
At this rate, getting kissed might not even feel awkward once he turned back to human.
“Please take good care of him. He shouldn’t get hurt, lost, or have any problems at all.”
“Don’t worry, safety is our top priority.”
The staff member assured him, as Han Joon set Yi Hyeon down. Still feeling like he wanted to crawl into a dark corner because of the overly decorated yellow dress, Yi Hyeon made a move to run but was swiftly stopped by Han Joon’s grip.
“I’ll be back soon from the hospital, so play nicely while I’m gone, okay?”
Hearing the word ‘hospital,’ Yi Hyeon turned back to look at Han Joon, surprised. Given he’d observed Han Joon’s energetic health every morning, he couldn’t help but be puzzled.
Noticing Yi Hyeon tilt his small dandelion-like head, Han Joon continued.
“The guy who saved Louie is in a hospital just down the street.”
Yi Hyeon’s mind jolted awake.
“Since animals aren’t allowed inside, I’ll stop by every day to thank him on behalf of Louie. When he wakes up, we can visit him together. Okay?”
That was when Yi Hyeon realized he was still unconscious. He felt a wave of anxiety and worry, but there was nothing he could do in his current form. Moreover, the hospital didn’t allow pets, so even if he attempted to enter, he’d just be kicked out.
Besides, being away from Han Joon was the most dangerous thing for Louie right now, so running away was the last thing he wanted to do.
‘The birthday… could it really be the key to returning to my body?’
Yi Hyeon watched as Han Joon hesitated, looking back repeatedly, reluctant to leave him.
Even after stepping outside, Han Joon continued glancing through the glass walls. Only when the traffic light changed did he finally walk away, slowly vanishing from Yi Hyeon’s view.
‘He’d better watch where he’s going. Look ahead!’
Seeing Han Joon glancing back even while crossing the street, Yi Hyeon anxiously paced on his paws until Han Joon finally made it safely to the sidewalk, giving him a moment of relief.
Once Han Joon disappeared, however, Yi Hyeon’s embarrassment over his dress surged back. As he began to look for a dark corner, a staff member tossed a plush toy at him.
The plush was a bee toy made for dogs.
“It’ll be a long time til your brother comes back. Shall we play and go hunting, Louie?”
At the mere suggestion of “hunting,” Yi Hyeon felt a strange, instinctive thrill.
Buzz!
“Eep!”
