- Chapter 4 Part 11 - Words Deserving a Slap
She wasn’t angry or showing signs of surprise. She just couldn’t believe this moment, focusing on Rahil, who was immersed in her.
Her gaze was so beautiful that Rahil couldn’t blink, just staring at her. Finally, as their lips parted and a long sigh was released, Anais slowly pushed him away. Rahil, gazing at Anais’s flushed cheeks, willingly moved off her.
Anais felt dazed. It seemed like her mind was completely blank while Rahil was exploring her lips. She had thought he might kiss her, but she hadn’t expected him to do it like this.
‘Like some beast….’
Her heart pounded, and the memory of his breath and the kiss that had stirred her mouth came to mind. Anais thought it was now certain. Rahil likes me. Her lips were still hot.
Turning her body so that Rahil couldn’t see her expression, Anais sat up in bed. Rahil was also getting up, glancing at Anais.
“……”
“……”
Although he lost his reason for a moment, Rahil thought it was a disaster. To have his affection for Anais discovered! But there was also the joy of having kissed her.
“So….”
At Anais’s voice, Rahil’s solid shoulders twitched. Anais continued without turning her head.
“Your Majesty…”
“No!”
“What?”
Anais, turning her head quickly to look at Rahil, saw fear in his eyes. Rahil, pale-faced, stammered on.
If he had taken a step back to view the situation coldly, he wouldn’t have made such a choice, but Rahil wasn’t in a state to be rational. The fear of being discovered and the fear that Anais might despise his feelings overlapped.
“It’s true… I like you but to say that I love you…”
I could kill him.
Anais felt a genuine murderous urge at that moment. Rahil realized he had judged poorly. But it was too late; the words were already out.
Anais’s eyes blazed like icy flames as she looked at Rahil.
“Then why did you kiss me?”
“……”
He had nothing to say. All the times Rahil had begged for a kiss were, in truth, like confessions of his affection for Anais.
Anais quietly grasped a cushion beside her. He was the emperor and a sword master, and even if she attacked him with all her might, she couldn’t kill him. Anger made her hands and arms tremble.
“Leave.”
“Anais…”
“Leave!!!”
This was perhaps the first time Anais had ‘properly’ shown anger at Rahil since they met. Even though she knew Rahil was being lenient with her, he was the emperor after all.
It wasn’t just yelling; she began to cry, and when she started throwing things, Rahil got off the bed. At first, it was cushions and pillows, but then even the clock on the bedside table flew.
Rahil fled the bedroom as if escaping and closed the door. Anais’s crying could be heard through the door. His face grew even paler.
This life seems to be ruined.

“Your Majesty, please forgive my rudeness. …Have you gone mad?”
Rahil, already regretting his birth, didn’t blame Sion for his rudeness. He was head-down on the desk in his robe. Although the servants came with clothes at Sion’s gesture, Rahil didn’t want to move a finger.
“I made Anais cry. Why did I respond like that at that moment?”
“Even the bravest man becomes a coward in front of love. It’s not that Your Majesty was afraid, but you might have misspoken out of nervousness.”
“Is Anais alright?”
At Rahil’s question, Sion coughed awkwardly.
“She has locked the door and hasn’t let even the maids in. We’ve received reports that the crying has stopped, so she will probably let the maid in soon.”
Rahil wanted to see her immediately, but Anais had told him to leave. Wanting to see her was his desire, not an act for Anais’s sake. He was the one who had troubled her.
“What must Anais think of me? She must… hate me?”
“You should change your clothes first before thinking about what to do next.”
Rahil was currently only wearing a robe over his n*ked body. It wouldn’t be appropriate to knock on Anais’s door in such a state, so Rahil got up from his seat with a lifeless face.
Sion wondered why things had gotten so complicated. Now, even if people around Her Majesty whispered, “The Emperor likes the Empress,” she wouldn’t believe them. She was always cautious and prudent.
‘It’s really ruined.’
He had anticipated that the Emperor, inexperienced in love, might make mistakes. But he hadn’t expected things to go this awry.
‘But there’s still hope.’
Fortunately, the Emperor was deeply smitten with the Empress, and all he needed to do was prove it to make her believe. She might not trust him at first, but with repeated efforts, it could be possible.
As long as they succeed before Angelica Calix returns to the capital.
Sion sighed deeply as he watched the servants help Rahil change his clothes. Rahil looked more despairing than he ever had, even when he had been cornered by some conspiracy in the past.
‘If you were going to look like that, you should have been honest from the start.’
If he had been truthful at that moment, the Empress might have been a bit angry, but she would have eventually forgiven him.
After all, there are hardly any women who would hate to find out that a handsome and accomplished man likes them. He could have gently appeased her afterward to score some points…
‘Why lie at that moment when you’re usually too honest? It must mean you’re really thrown off by your feelings now.’
He hadn’t messed things up this badly even when he had liked the Duchess of Calix. Sion pondered how to rectify the situation as Rahil nearly finished getting dressed.

Contrary to Sion’s expectations that the maids would soon be let in, Anais didn’t open her bedroom door or let in any food until late into the night. This made the maids anxious. Mary said it was the first time in her life she had seen the lady in such a state.
Rahil, too, was so anxious he couldn’t swallow a sip of water. Sion wasn’t worried about the Emperor, a sword master, but about the fragile Empress.
