When Ashtel stepped into Liz’s domain, everything was already over.

“Sis Liz! Sis Seri!”

Carmen, Hela, and Matys flinched as they saw Sermedes standing calmly, their gazes quickly shifting away, but the undeterred Ashtel ran toward them.

“Have you seen Payne?”

The surrounding area was in chaos with thunder and lightning, but Ashtel paid no attention to it. Right now, the only thing that mattered to her was Payne, nothing else.

Liz was startled and shifted her gaze to Sermedes, and only then did Ashtel, noticing the atmosphere, continue with her explanation.

“So, I brought Payne to the demon realm. I didn’t mean to do anything foolish; I wanted to ask Sis Juvia for help…”

“Juvia?”

A small twitch of a frosty expression passed over Sermedes’ face. She slightly tilted her head, pushing her hair back with a fluid motion.

“Why did you look for Juvia, youngest?”

“I wanted to erase his memory. Payne figured out my true identity.”

Sermedes’ eyes narrowed. Only Ashtel, out of everyone in the world, could withstand that gaze.

Liz, thinking that Sermedes might punish Ashtel, hurriedly grabbed her sister’s cloak.

“Sis, Sister, I’ll explain it to Sue. Don’t be too harsh on her.”

“I won’t.”

“You’re holding back your anger, aren’t you?”

“I’m not holding back.”

Wait, didn’t that mean she would get angry?

Despite all the complex feelings and hidden insecurities, family was family.

No matter how much she didn’t like Ashtel, Liz didn’t want to see her punished by Sermedes after losing the human she cared about.

‘I threatened that human too, but I didn’t really want to kill him.’

Liz staggered to her feet and glanced behind her, making sure no one noticed.

A gust of wind came from the cliff where Payne had fallen, carrying with it the faint echoes of a death scream.

‘He’s probably dead.’

Being a fragile human, he likely didn’t have the strength to scream before passing away.

How pitiful. She had liked him, despite everything. Ashtel must be heartbroken after losing such a handsome human.

“What are you trying to say to me?”

Having lost Payne, met Sermedes, and entered the domain of an unfriendly sister, Ashtel was at her breaking point.

Her voice was unusually sharp, and Liz almost replied in the same tone but stopped herself just in time.

“Your human, you know. He was here earlier.”

And before Sermedes could give a signal, Liz quickly continued.

“But he fell here. He seemed shocked when he saw my subordinates.”

“What…?”

In truth, it was Sermedes’ unilateral decision to kill Payne, unable to stand by while Ashtel was being manipulated by a mere human. But this cruel eldest sister would never admit it, and to sever any lingering attachment to the already dead human, this seemed to be the best option.

After all, Liz had always been at odds with Ashtel, so delivering this sad truth seemed acceptable.

However, it seemed Liz was under a serious misconception.

“What did you just say?”

A fierce aura flared up from the tips of Ashtel’s toes. The small horns that had gently protruded from her forehead began to crack and grow, and the once dark night-sky blue surface of her skin turned a fiery red.

Liz, who had been standing right in front of her, along with the other sisters and Sermedes, blinked in surprise.

“Sue, Sue, your horns…”

“Payne really fell here, right? Did you see it yourself?”

“Uh… Uh-uh…”

“Then why didn’t you save him? You knew he was Payne, didn’t you?”

“No, I… I didn’t…”

“Sue, don’t be angry.”

A soft hand tried to block Ashtel’s view, but she immediately swatted it away.

“Sis Seri didn’t know either?”

Sermedes remained silent.

Without waiting for an answer, Ashtel bit her lip.

“…He might still be alive.”

“That’s impossible.”

“Move. I’m going down.”

“No, Sue. It’s dangerous.”

“Since when was a cliff dangerous to a demon?!”

Ashtel flapped her wings and flew straight toward the edge of the cliff.

“At best, all you’ll find is his corpse.”

Ashtel’s wings paused for a moment, but she slowly turned around and spoke to Sermedes.

“I won’t know until I check.”

When a demon is angry, it influences the environment around them. This was true even in the demon realm.

A small storm began to stir around Ashtel. While weaker compared to Hela or Sermedes, her sisters quickly realized how angry she was and fell silent. They couldn’t say another word until Ashtel flew off the cliff and headed downward.

In seminary school, many subjects are taught—demonology, theology, and even arts if necessary. Payne had studied most of these subjects.

To follow Katzel’s will, both body and mind had to be honed, and among the various disciplines were swordsmanship and martial arts.
