Sermerdes Asti. The first fruit of the Asti tree.
When she first took a breath, the world was still in chaos, and the demon world was even more dangerous by Katzel’s withdrawal, after getting disappointed in the vile demon species.
A lawless era, where everyone hurt each other, trampled upon one another, and didn’t hesitate to use dark magic.
In such a world, Sermerdes rose to the top, claiming the position of ruler with the single power of lightning.
The Demon Lord granted her the title of leader, and from that point, she led the Succubi and Incubi. But despite obtaining the highest position, Sermerdes never felt satisfaction.
It wasn’t that she wanted a higher position. After a long history of battles, struggles, and politics, she began to tire of it all.
She was a demon, yes, and demons were supposed to thrive in bloody wars. But why was it that the conflict, which should have brought pleasure, now felt so tiresome? If all that remained from her long life were endless suffering, she no longer wanted to live.
And then, another fruit was born from the Asti tree. Her name was Juvia. Though now lazy and good for nothing but sleeping, Sermerdes realized what she had to protect at that time.
‘My siblings, my family, my love.’
Succubi born from the Asti tree were different from other demons. They were precious, like human families, and full of affection.
Sermerdes realized that she had to organize the demon world for the sake of her siblings. A place where survival was difficult couldn’t remain that way. She mustn’t let unnecessary conflicts arise and harm her precious children.
To prevent starvation, and to ensure no one would dare hurt them.
Thus, she became the cruel Great Demon. The immortal ruler, the cold-hearted eldest sister.
She didn’t hesitate to destroy her sibling’s followers if it was to straighten their path. She didn’t mind killing prey they cherished like fragile glass, if it meant doing what was right.
And she would continue to do so, because it was the right path.
“I’m not going to see Sister.”
“…”
“I won’t look at you for a hundred, no, at least three hundred years!”
“Calm down, youngest! Eldest sister just fainted!”
But if it came to this, what was left to choose?
Matys jumped up and tried to stop Ashtel. As she said, Sermerdes was almost unconscious. Her eyes were wide open, but her consciousness had fled in an instant.
After a moment, a voice that seemed to choke her throat came out.
“Why?”
“Don’t you know that now?!”
“Your human is still alive.”
“He needs a few more days to wake up! He can’t even be properly treated here!”
As soon as Payne arrived in Liz’s territory, he was moved to Carmen’s lab. However, while using a teleportation device for quick travel, something went wrong. His body, half of it, turned completely black, possibly due to the magic.
This surely seemed like a sign of corruption.
“He’s even corrupted now! What are we going to do with our Payne?!”
“Corruption can be reversed by Katzel’s prayer.”
“To do that, he needs to recover! But because of Sis Seri, nothing can be done! It’s all Sister’s fault!”
Sermerdes was once again stunned.
The shock was something that only Ashtel’s cute antics over the course of a week could match.
“…Sue, listen carefully. Humans are prey.”
“No, they’re not.”
“They’re just animals who can’t even live for a hundred years.”
“I just need to care for him for a hundred years.”
“Do you really think your affection will last that long?”
“Didn’t I already answer that by saying I won’t see Sis Seri for a hundred years?”
…Once again, Sermerdes fainted.
While Matys fidgeted nervously and Hela sighed with her hand on her forehead, Liz sat on a plush cushion, floating lazily and narrowing her eyes.
‘She killed all my followers, and now she’s so fixated on just one human who happens to belong to Sue?’

Then, with a tired expression, Carmen came out of the workshop.
Ashtel, clearly uninterested in Sermerdes, stopped their conversation abruptly and darted out.
