The Succubus, The Priest, and His Fall Into Lustful Heat - Chapter 61
“Are you asking me out on a date, Father Payne?”
“No, I have something to discuss.”
“Ah, something to discuss…”
While Duvalkan was surprised, Ashtel was even more taken aback, staring in astonishment at both of them.
‘In the evening? Meeting separately? Payne and Duvalkan?’
FYI, Payne, known for his impenetrable demeanor, rarely interacted with others. Not only did he avoid socializing outside the temple, but now he’s suddenly requesting a meeting with Duvalkan?
‘What about me?!’
Ashtel had no personal connection with Payne, just physical encounters. Still, she couldn’t hide her rising jealousy.
“Sorry, but I have a prior engagement.”
Duvalkan immediately refused.
“We’ll have to meet another time.”
He winked at Ashtel, whose stomach churned at the sight, almost making her regurgitate yesterday’s potato soup.
“A prior engagement, you say?”
Normally, Payne would have backed off, but with a dark expression, he asked again.
Duvalkan shrugged dramatically and replied.
“You must have heard on the way here. I’m meeting with the maid.”
“…I see. It can’t be helped.”
Payne’s face, already dark, now furrowed his brow, showing his displeasure.
‘Payne…’
Ashtel, blinded by jealousy and hoping they wouldn’t meet, started to feel uneasy seeing Payne’s discomfort.
‘It must be something important.’
Indeed, Payne wouldn’t have called Duvalkan out for just any trivial matter. It must be something serious, possibly related to Payne’s health or internal temple affairs.
‘I’d rather not have him meet alone with that Duval guy…’
But if Payne insists.
“Just go ahead and leave.”
“Pardon?”
“Father Payne has something to discuss. We can postpone our meeting.”
Ashtel immediately started prodding Duvalkan’s side, trying to persuade him. Since the appointment was just made, delaying it shouldn’t be a big deal.
But Duvalkan’s expression fell quite disappointedly. He fidgeted with his lips before bending down to match Ashtel’s height and whispered in her ear.
“What if we postpone and the maid forgets?”
“What are you talking about? Why would I forget?”
“Or you might just pretend you don’t know.”
“Stop saying strange things and just say to Priest Payne that you will. This seems like an important matter.”
“Hmm…”
Though unintentionally whispering in front of Payne, Ashtel, being a succubus rather than a human, didn’t fully grasp the rudeness or how much it might bother him.
However, since Duvalkan kept leaning in close under the pretext of whispering, Ashtel almost lifted her heel to step on his foot. But Payne spoke first.
“I’m fine. There’s no need to postpone the appointment. Let’s first inspect Sir Duvalkan’s quarters.”
“Inspect? What do you mean?”
“A surprise inspection. We’ll check for prohibited items in the temple.”
“Wait, what? I didn’t know about this!”
“That’s why it’s a surprise.”
Duvalkan’s mouth dropped open.
“Is this even allowed?”
“Why wouldn’t it be? Even knights can’t be excluded from inspections.”
“Well, at least you should have given prior notice…”
It would have been fine if only Ashtel’s belongings were involved, but under Duvalkan’s bed were numerous items belonging to various servants and maids. If they were all discovered, they would be confiscated, and Duvalkan would lose face not only with the temple but with people he knew.
“…Father Payne, could we talk for a moment?”
“My business is already concluded.”
“I’ll cover dinner tomorrow. How about that?”
“Aren’t you supposed to have an appointment with Miss Sue?”
“We’ve decided to postpone it a bit. Right, Miss Sue?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
So, this is how it ends up.
Ashtel clicked her tongue silently.
‘Well, at least it’s going the way Payne wants.’
She subtly glanced at Payne, who seemed to grow even darker, as if staring at the night sky.
“Then shall we proceed?”
“Yes, that’s fine. Very well.”
Duvalkan followed Payne, giving Ashtel an apologetic wink.
With how often he blinks, it seems his eyelids might wear out much faster than others.
While thinking about poking Duvalkan’s eyes, Ashtel waited for Payne’s words. But Payne didn’t even give her a glance before turning and walking away.
‘Why!’
Ashtel’s lips puffed out in frustration. She sulked as she watched the two men disappear into the distance.
