The Succubus, The Priest, and His Fall Into Lustful Heat - Chapter 70
Moablon’s short finger pointed toward a spot, and to Ashtel’s shock, there he was—Payne. Ashtel froze in place, her mouth agape, rubbing her eyes to make sure she wasn’t seeing things. But
Payne didn’t disappear. He was really there.
‘Why is Payne here?!’
The answer to her unspoken question became clear when she noticed who was standing in front of him.
“It’s Duval, isn’t it?”
“What-Val?”
“A paladin. He knows Payne.”
That’s right—Payne and Duvalkan were supposed to meet tonight. Originally, the meeting was Ashtel’s plan, but she had given up her spot when she saw how urgent Payne seemed.
‘With Sis Moa here, it actually worked out for the best.’
But she hadn’t expected their meeting to be outside the temple. From the looks of it, they were standing in front of a restaurant—were they planning to go in?
Ashtel nervously eyed Payne’s well-built figure—though completely hidden under his thick priest robes.
‘Payne… Is he okay?’
This was the first time she’d seen him since the incident in the bathhouse, as he had been avoiding her all day. She could feel Moablon clinging to her side, probably taking in every detail of Payne too, but before she could make a move, Duvalkan noticed them and turned his head.
“Oh, Miss Maid?”
That damned knight.
Ashtel flinched and tried to pretend she hadn’t heard him. On any other day, she might have seen this as fate and rushed over to Payne, but with her sister there, it was different.
‘I need to avoid meeting Payne right now!’
But just as she was trying to keep her distance, Moablon suddenly slipped out of her grasp and trotted off towards them. Ashtel reached out in surprise, but it was too late.
“Hello, Knighty?”
“Uh?”
“I’m Sue’s little sister. You’re a paladin, right?”
“Uh, yes… Wait, did you say you’re Miss Maid’s sister?”
The child’s face was unfamiliar, but Duvalkan couldn’t ignore the name she mentioned, and Payne’s attention was also drawn to Moablon.
“Sis…..Moablon! What are you doing there?”
With no other choice, Ashtel hurried over to Payne and Duvalkan, grabbing Moablon by the shoulders just as her eyes met Payne’s troubled gaze.
“Pa-Payne…”
She called his name without thinking, and his already stormy eyes fell to the ground.
Payne’s expression was anything but welcoming, and Ashtel’s heart sank in response. Before she could even gather her thoughts, Duvalkan, ever the impatient one, stepped forward.
“Wow, I didn’t know you had a little sister, Miss Maid.”
“Uh, yes, well…”
“You two out for dinner? What are you planning to eat?”
“Actually, no…”
Ashtel, who had taken on human form, needed to eat, but Moablon didn’t. After all, she wasn’t disguising herself as a human—she was merely hiding her demonic ears and tail while wandering around in her true form.
‘It’s risky for her to be around Duvalkan.’
Ashtel quickly tried to usher Moablon behind her, but her sister, acting every bit like the eight-year-old she appeared to be, eagerly tugged at Payne’s robe.
“Big brother, play with us! You know my sister, right?”
“…I, um…”
“Moablon, was it? We’re here to have dinner. Want us to buy you something too?”
Seeing Payne’s discomfort, Duvalkan smoothly lowered himself to Moablon’s level and asked with a smile. Normally, a child might have responded joyfully, but Moablon sensed something off about Duvalkan’s attitude and immediately turned her attention back to Payne.
“Brother Payne, have dinner with me and my sister. Please?”
“Moablon, why are you doing this?”
Why else? Of course, it was because Moablon was curious about Payne. She had tried and failed to persuade Ashtel to let her meet him, and now that he was standing right in front of her,
Moablon saw it as the perfect opportunity. Her amber eyes even gleamed with a reptilian shine as she eyed Payne intently.
“I… I’m fine.”
“What?”
“Sir Duvalkan, why not have Miss Maid join?”
“Oh, well, I’d be happy to, but didn’t you say you had something to talk about?”
“That can wait until another time.”
“Hmm? Really?”
Wait, what? Seriously?
Ashtel’s mouth fell open, and she quickly shook her head. Was he seriously saying it was okay for them to join him?
She glanced at Moablon with a look of concern, but her sister was all smiles, clearly pleased with how things were turning out.
“Father Payne, I don’t want to impose too much…”
Ashtel tried to back out, hinting that they should leave.
“Oh, come on, it’s no imposition. I was planning to have dinner with you tonight anyway!”
Duvalkan grinned, trying to be as charming as possible, but it only made Ashtel feel more uneasy.
‘This annoying paladin…!’
And if that wasn’t bad enough, Moablon’s ears perked up with interest.
“You were going to have dinner with my sister?”
