The Ugly Wife of the Shady Duke - Chapter 4.1
“I’m sure there’s a diary somewhere, there must be.”
“If only I had realized right after I was reincarnated that this world was from a novel.”
Grace thought while thoroughly searching under the most classic location, the bed, but then corrected her thoughts.
“No, if I had known that this world was from ‘The Saint’s Wish,’ I would have been in despair. After all, I’m Grace Felton…”
Under the bed was empty.
Grace searched through the wardrobe and drawers one by one.
‘Grace is a character who only receives insults without any direct appearance and suddenly dies from a mysterious illness.’
Besides no one knows whether it’s real or not, and no one cares. Only the current victim, herself, was concerned.
Realizing such a situation right away, there was no way she could accept it.
But knowing that this was reality and realizing that she was Grace, there was no other option but to accept it.
‘Found it.’
Thinking about this and that, Grace discovered a hidden compartment under the jewelry box.
‘Is it here?’
Yes, this place is also a pretty classic location. Grace muttered as she opened the hidden compartment.
However, there was only one ring inside.
Grace picked up the ring with a helpless expression.
‘The diary which was supposed to be here isn’t here…’
The ring sparkled slightly even in the darkness, but that was all. It looked cheap and old-fashioned, not worthy of the status of a duke’s family, and even more worthless than the small decoration used in the jewelry box.
Moreover, the gem in the middle was not real, but a red glass bead. Grace stared at the ring for a while before putting it back in.
‘I feel bad.’
Staring at the ring made her feel nauseous and her stomach churned.
If she continued to stare at it, she felt like her heart would burst with a terrible feeling. Grace patted her chest.
“A diary…”
On the first day of reincarnation, she had no memories.
Only now did Grace’s memories come to mind, but that was all.
‘I can’t remember anything anymore.’
Grace had realized that this world was from a novel, and it was probably due to her vague memories that had surfaced little by little.
Knock knock.
Someone knocking on the door interrupted Grace’s anxious thoughts.
“Madam, it’s Sally.”
“….”
Grace briefly pondered who Sally was. Searching through her memories, she recalled that Sally was the only blonde maid who was particularly kind to her.
“Yes, you can come in.”
As Grace replied, Sally opened the door and walked in. She had a silver tray with a teapot, cups, and a small envelope on it.
Grace asked, looking at what Sally had brought.
“What’s that?”
“It’s medicine.”
“Medicine?”
As Grace looked puzzled and asked, Sally looked at her with a suspicious expression.
“I took the medicine, no, I mean I ate it. Sorry, I’ve been a bit up and down lately.”
Sally rolled her eyes at Grace’s answer. Grace felt a cold sweat for no reason.
“I think I forgot because I haven’t been taking my medicine for a while.”
Sally listened quietly to Grace’s vague answer and placed the silver tray on the small table.
“….”
Grace’s gaze followed Sally’s movements anxiously.
“One, two, three….”
There were a total of four pills. Grace searched her memories, but nothing came to mind about these pills.
‘Maybe there’s information about the medicine in the diary. ‘
“These pills….”
“Recently, Madam hasn’t been taking her medicine, and the Master knows about it. He is worried and requested me to make sure madam takes them.”
“Your Excellency?”
Grace hadn’t thought much of it until a moment ago, but when Benjamin’s name came up, her eyes widened slightly.
‘A request, you say?’
The fact that the Duke used the word “request” instead of an order made Grace feel uneasy, and she unconsciously furrowed her eyebrows.
