‘Have I ever been acknowledged like this before?’
Even in her original life, she was hardly understood. Her family didn’t recognize the things she truly loved and treated her poorly.
‘It seemed like it was the same even back then… with unpleasant rumors about my appearance.’
She made an effort not to recall the memories from her past life, as they were filled with dreadful events. She didn’t want to add sad memories on top of the current situation.
‘How come nothing seems to have changed much since back then.’
Grace was surprised as she recollected this fact.
“What happened My Lady? Did my words upset you in some way?”
Benjamin suddenly directed a worried look at Grace, who fell into silence. Grace snapped out of her thoughts and moved on to the next topic.
“It’s not that, but there’s something I’d like to request Your Highness.”
“What is it? If it’s a request from My Lady, I will do my best to fulfill it.”
“I want to accompany you on the upcoming mission to the contaminated area.”
Benjamin, who seemed ready to help with anything, kept his mouth shut in response to Grace’s request, showing a confused expression.
“Going to a contaminated area might be very dangerous. Besides, it’s a serious task, so I’m not sure if My Lady’s body can handle it.”
“But you know too, Your Highness, don’t you?”
Though Grace didn’t clearly mention about what he knew, Benjamin understood the implication and raised an eyebrow.
“I would be better off going with you.”
“Still…”
“And I feel suffocated.”
Benjamin couldn’t hold back and once again gave her a worried look when he heard Grace’s words of feeling suffocated.
“Travel is too grandiose at this time of the year. Besides, since it’s a mission, there will be many people, so it should be safe. It’s a great chance to get some fresh air.”
“…….”
“I won’t be a burden. If I can, I want to help.”
Benjamin just stood there blankly, not sure if he was listening to Grace or not.
‘Is it not possible?’
No matter how much she assured that she wouldn’t be a burden, as a noblewoman with no special abilities, Grace couldn’t escape being a burden.
‘But this might be the best way.’
There were many unfavorable looks directed at Grace, not only from her indirect experiences but also from what she remembered from the original work.
Staying still wouldn’t make the negative rumors disappear. If she wanted to continue living here, Grace needed to take action and gradually change things one by one.
In that sense, going together to the contaminated area in the west seemed like a good plan. Most noblewomen only sent donations to harsh places, and they rarely ventured there personally.
After much contemplation, Benjamin finally spoke in a low voice.
“…Then let it be so.”
It was an acceptance.

“Madam, should we pack these clothes as well?”
“Madam, how about this one? It doesn’t take up much space.”
“Madam…”
As soon as Benjamin granted her permission to venture to the Western outskirts together, Grace was busy without a moment’s rest.
She wondered if it was okay to make decisions about this by themselves, but then she heard that the palace readily approved it.
The reason was simple.
‘I never thought the divorce probation period would come in so handy.’
It was classified as a sort of couple volunteer activity and also received favorable responses.
That’s because this made it seem like they were making efforts to restore their relationship.
‘Perhaps I can use this aspect to my advantage.’
It was so convenient that even such wicked thoughts crossed her mind.
However, after that, there were too many things to consider, and Grace felt overwhelmed. She was so preoccupied that she didn’t even hear the sounds of taunting that often came inside her head.
‘Maybe it’s better to be busy.’
Being physically tired was much better than feeling mentally drained.
The servants from the annex brought various items and showed them to Grace. All of them were things to assist her on her distant journey.
‘Now, I can understand why noblewomen don’t go to disaster areas in person.’
Noble ladies had many things to take care of when they went out, as it was essential to maintain their dignity.
But when going to a disaster area for relief work, bringing too many personal belongings would be more of a hindrance than help.
“I can’t take so much with me. It’ll become a burden.”
“But still…”
“Aren’t you going to take the gate to travel halfway in the journey? We have access to the gate through our territory.”
“That’s right. If you use the gate, then it won’t be a burden.”
“Well, that’s true, but…”
Grace recalled the original storyline where an accident occurred at the Gate Management Office, rendering the gate unusable.
‘To prevent that from happening, I even staged that show last time.’
For some reason, she felt that something similar might happen again.
‘I used to think the original story was peacefully progressing, but now it doesn’t seem so.’
