The Wicked Wife's Dark History Keeps Coming Back To Haunt Her - Chapter 13
‘Count Azelot…’
Now that she thought about it, she did meet him around this time.
Although they were not in regular contact, he had requested a meeting, saying he had something important to discuss, and it was an appointment initiated by him.
Two years into the marriage, full of spite, she had invited him into the house just to anger her husband without thinking about the consequences…
Threats, obsession, surveillance, physical confrontations—she even brought her husband’s enemy into the house out of spite.
‘My past self was truly insane.’
With such behavior, it was no wonder she couldn’t improve her relationship with him.
“Tell the Count that I’ll be there soon.”
“Are you saying you’re going to meet Count Azelot?”
“And don’t forget to mention that it will take some time as I’m not feeling well.”
“Yes, understood.”
As the maid disappeared with a knowing expression, Marsha asked worriedly,
“Madam, why don’t you just rest? The Duke will be informed, and what if he misunderstands this…”
Nina swung her legs out of bed and stood up.
“It can’t be helped. I need to talk to Count Azelot.”
It made her feel disgusted to see his face and hear his ‘revolting words’ again, but Count Azelot would be a good excuse to arrange a meeting with her husband.
‘And it seems the reason my husband wants to adopt his nephew is related to Count Azelot…’
Thinking back on what Count Azelot had proposed during his visit that day, her suspicion seemed almost certain.
‘I need to draw a clear line with Count Azelot this time.’
Also, if her husband aimed to adopt, it meant she couldn’t dream of divorce for the next year, and if that was because of Count Azelot. She must thwart his plans.

Louis E. Azelot, the current Duke of Bayern’s uncle, was fiddling with a glass bottle in his pocket.
The maid had served him cheap tea and treated him with blatant disregard, but he could still smile because of this ‘item’.
‘Soon enough, you’ll see what happens to your master.’
If his niece-in-law was desperate to protect his nephew, she wouldn’t refuse his help.
The thought of his arrogant nephew, born from a lowly family, losing his pride made him grin.
Perhaps because he was excited, even the faint scent of the cheap tea seemed pleasant.
Not that he intended to drink such cheap tea, of course.
While waiting for Nina, Count Azelot was idly reading a newspaper in the drawing room.
Then Nina, with her pale pink hair neatly tied up and wearing luxurious loungewear, entered.
He had suspected she might be deliberately late to engage in a power struggle with him, which had annoyed him, but seeing her pale complexion, it seemed she really wasn’t feeling well.
“Uncle, it’s been a while. I apologize for keeping you waiting—I’m not feeling well.”
“Haha, no worries. You’ve taken the time to see me despite your poor health, so how could I complain? Please, don’t worry about it.”
Count Azelot laughed heartily, his lecherous eyes scanning Nina’s body.
Her melancholic blue eyes, her slender waist that aroused a protective instinct, contrasted with her voluptuous curves.
He couldn’t tell if his niece-in-law was impressive for not winning her husband’s love with such a body, or if his nephew was remarkable for not touching such a wife.
“You said you had something important to discuss. As you can see, it’s difficult for me to stay up for long, so let’s keep it brief.”
“Ahem, it can’t be helped. But what I have to say requires privacy, so I suggest we move to a different room…”
Count Azelot cleared his throat and glanced at the entrance of the drawing room.
Being an open space, it wasn’t suitable for confidential discussions.
