The Wicked Wife's Dark History Keeps Coming Back To Haunt Her - Chapter 8
With a look of utter disgust, as if something dirty had touched him.
…It hurt a little, but she understood.
He must hate her.
Her very existence must be revolting to him.
How could she not know his feelings?
But she couldn’t let him go like this.
She had something urgent to discuss and settle quickly.
Nina quickly stepped in front of him, who was about to pass her by as if she were invisible.
“Wait, please just talk to me for a moment.”
Her husband tilted his head slightly and spoke.
“What.”
The man, whom she had to crane her neck to look at, lowered his gaze without bothering to stoop.
Though his contemptuous behavior would normally incite anger, Nina was just grateful he was willing to talk at all.
‘Seeing him now, he’s truly terrifying.’
She took a deep breath, her chest heaving, and forced a shaky smile.
Facing her husband’s icy stare made her heart race.
His gaze alone seemed capable of killing someone.
What on earth had possessed her to stalk a man like this?
She must have really been out of her mind.
With a dry mouth, she barely managed to speak.
“…I have something important to tell you. Please, just give me a moment.”
Seemingly about to leave, he checked his pocket watch and spoke indifferently.
“Make it brief and to the point.”
“It’s a bit difficult to talk here. I’d prefer if we could move to your study.”
He scoffed.
“I thought I explained it clearly enough back then. Was my explanation insufficient?”
“What?”
“If you plan to run at me naked in the study again, I must decline. My body didn’t respond then, and I doubt it will now.”
Ouch.
Nina felt her face flush as he referenced her embarrassing past and stammered,
“Th-that’s not it. I really have something important to tell you. Once this is over, I won’t bother you anymore, so please, just give me a moment.”
“…”
“Please.”
Ash quietly stared at Nina, who showed no intention of moving from his path.
Please…
The word “please” from his shameless and irrational wife.
Her voice lacked its usual venom and her eyes wavered with earnestness.
Her attire was unusually plain.
He decided to hear what she had to say, given her uncharacteristic demeanor.
“Five minutes.”
“Thank you.”
The Duchess of Bayern expressing gratitude for a mere five minutes?
‘She did hurt her head. Maybe something’s wrong with her?’
Back in the study, Ash sat on the sofa, eyeing Nina suspiciously.
“What do you want?”
Nina fidgeted with her fingers and cautiously began.
“First, I want to apologize for all the wrongs I’ve done to you. I’m sorry. I’ve done many things I shouldn’t have.”
“…”
Ash’s long eyes narrowed.
What was she up to now?
“Do you think I gave you time to hear an apology?”
Ash glanced at his watch, as if his time was being wasted. Nina took a deep breath.
Right, what mattered to him more than her apology was ending this hellish marriage.
Divorce…
If she proposed divorce, he would probably smile in relief.
He was a man who would have rejected her even without the incident ten days ago.
She clenched and unclenched her cold hands and said,
“Let’s get a divorce.”
She waited for his reaction.
She thought he would welcome the words he had been waiting to hear, but his eyes only grew colder, leaving her confused.
Did he not hear?
“As you wish… let’s get a divorce.”
This time, she spoke more clearly, ensuring he heard.
He responded with a sharp, bitter laugh.
“Did you just say divorce?”
What’s going on…?
Why is he reacting like this?
Nina’s eyes widened.
Wasn’t the typical response of an obsessive wife proposing divorce supposed to be a satisfied smile, along with a promise not to back out?
But her husband’s eyes were as murderous as when she had blackmailed him into marrying her.
