There is No Key to His Cage - Chapter 1.1
“What do you plan to do with me now?”
Her exhausted body leaned helplessly against the ropes. Her voice, weak as if she hadn’t eaten for days, filled the room.
“That depends on what you do.”
The man’s slender fingers slowly scraped the dust-covered desk. The unpleasant sound echoed loudly in her ears.
He approached slowly and grasped her delicate chin.
“My lovely Elena, my bride.”
“Take your hand off.”
The woman turned her head sharply, shaking off the unpleasant touch.
He chuckled, then knelt down, looking at her, tied to the chair as if she were something precious.
His red eyes shone brilliantly in the moonlight. Was he a demon rather than a human? His smiling, pale face was beautiful.
If asked what shines brighter than any other being, one might say ‘he.’
His lips touched softly. Something hot slipped between her parted lips and engulfed her.
Today, too, she was miserably captivated by the irresistible demon.
“I love you, Elena.”
***
She was kidnapped.
By this beautiful man right in front of her eyes.
“Hello, Elena.”
This man with ruby-like, bright red eyes and hair as black as the night sky.
He seemed two spans taller than her, with broad shoulders and a deep voice.
A man who probably made many women cry, whose name she didn’t know.
From what she had observed so far, he was a psychopath.
“Did you sleep well?”
There are several reasons why he is not normal.
First, he talks nonsense.
“I wanted to sleep with you too, such a shame.”
Second, he lacks empathy and understanding.
“Your tied arms don’t hurt, right?”
Third, he treats people like animals.
“You’re still too wild.”
In short,
“Crazy bastard….”
In all her 30 years of living in this life and the previous one, she had never seen a person like this.
He ties people up and looks at them as if they’re lovely.
He pats them as if they’re cute like a puppy.
Yet, he doesn’t treat them with utmost care either.
She hadn’t had a single meal in the two days since she came here.
It seemed he intended to starve her to death.
“No matter how it’s a kidnapping, isn’t feeding someone basic decency?”
Even when dieting, she hadn’t eaten this poorly.
As a result, her already thin body felt even more emaciated.
“I have no choice but to keep you quiet.”
His seemingly serious words left her speechless.
Does he not know that people die if they don’t eat?
Does this man even have common sense?
“Untie me right now.”
“Not yet, Elena.”
His lips curved into a bright smile like a crescent moon.
He spoke clearly, meeting her gaze with his red eyes.
“You’ll run away.”
His innocent tone sent chills down her spine.
Though his lips were smiling, the meaning in his words was not.
It was an unspoken pressure that she could never escape.
“I searched for you so much.”
“Sorry, but I don’t know who you are.”
No matter how much she racked her brain, she couldn’t find a single connection to this man.
But why did he keep pretending to know her? It made her feel suffocated.
“Why don’t you know when I was so close?”
He raised his hand and gently brushed her hair.
In his gentle gaze, she felt an inexplicable sense of déjà vu.
“Let go of my hand.”
She glared at him as fiercely as she could, trying to look intimidating.
But to him, such an attempt was nothing more than child’s play.
“Even that expression is cute.”
He patted the top of her head until it felt worn out.
It was only natural to feel like a well-behaved puppy.
There would be no excuse if the anger she had soothed and calmed suddenly burst out.
“Let go while I’m asking nicely.”
She meant it sincerely.
If her hands were free, she would have hit him hard.
As she lowered her voice and hardened her expression, he leaned in as if watching an amusing spectacle.
“What are you going to do?”
He tilted his head crookedly and sneered.
His face was smiling, but there was a mocking tone mixed in.
“Are you going to scream?”
“……”
“Or try to escape from here?”
He wagged his head like a fox cub with a faint smile.
The condescending feeling was unpleasant.
“Hmm? Tell me.”
He definitely seemed like a madman.
Grinning as if he were in control in this situation.
But there was one thing he didn’t know.
She was just as crazy.
Spit.
“Screw you.”
She grinned mischievously and spat in his face.
She saw his smiling expression slowly freeze.
Serves him right.
“You’re still mischievous.”
He gently wiped the saliva off his right cheek with the back of his hand.
Just like a model in a cosmetics ad.
“Lovingly.”
They say an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.
He behaved badly, so she had no choice but to return the favor.
“I thought I knew everything about you.”
He raised his hand and gently caressed her cheek.
“I didn’t expect you to be so impolite.”
For a moment, her body froze like a scarecrow at his words.
Did he just say she was impolite?
“…Impolite?”
“Yes, Elena. You shouldn’t spit in your husband’s face.”
Is this what they mean by brain freeze?
She pondered over what he had just said.
Husband, which means in the language she knows, a man who is married to a woman.
“What?”
She furrowed her brow deeply and asked again.
She couldn’t understand his words at all.
“Husband, Elena. You and I will get married.”
She stared at him silently for a long time.
It felt as if the air in this dark room had stopped.
Did this man just say marriage?
“…What?”
“Marriage. Yours and mine.”
“Ha…”
They say you laugh when something is too absurd.
Right now, it was so absurd that the corners of her mouth lifted involuntarily.
“I didn’t expect you to be so happy.”
“Are you on drugs or something? Or are you drunk? Or are you just really crazy?”
She unleashed a rapid-fire rant at him in her anger.
But he opened his mouth without any change in expression.
“Yes, for you.”
He seems to be sincere, speaking without even moistening his lips.
At that moment, thoughts quickly passed through her mind.
Ah, I got involved with the wrong person.
This man is serious.
“Let me ask you one thing.”
She closed her eyes, silently reciting a prayer to calm herself.
“Anything you want.”
“Exactly why did you bring me here?”
Then he opened his mouth without a moment’s hesitation.
“Because you are my bride.”
“Ha…”
Not getting flustered in any situation was her ironclad rule.
That rule was broken today.
