This Three-Year-Old Is A Villainess - Chapter 99

As the hall grew noisy, the professors standing behind Viscount Debussy looked troubled.
Viscount Debussy then banged his gavel.
“Rooms will be assigned based on the test you will take today.”
Today?!
The hall erupted in chaos.
Balzac, leaning his head on his interlocked hands, clicked his tongue.
“They seriously don’t give us a break.”
Joshua, sitting upright, commented nonchalantly,
“Our cousins probably prepared a lot during the break. It’s good to check everything from the beginning.”
Viscount Debussy, smiling at the confused children, announced,
“From now on, you will all participate in a treasure hunt.”
“A treasure hunt?”
“Treasure?”
“Yes. Notes with numbers are hidden in various places. The more precious the location, the higher the rank. You have until sunset when dinner begins to find these notes.”
Saying this, Viscount Debussy flipped a giant hourglass on the platform.
Sand in the hourglass began to fall rapidly.
‘The test ends when all the sand drops.’
The children immediately rushed out.
Balzac and Joshua also stood up.
“Joshua, where will you go?”
“Why would I reveal my tactics to the enemy?”
“Ugh.”
Balzac, with his arms crossed, then asked me,
“Kiddo, where will you go?”
“Um… secwet.”
“Alright, let’s bet who finds it first.”
The three of us quickly left the room.
As we passed through the shrine used for the third generation’s education…
“What are you doing?!”
“You tell me.”
“Huh?”
We found ourselves walking side by side.
‘Could it be that we’re headed to the same destination?’
Not just me, Balzac and Joshua also narrowed their eyes.
“…”
“…”
“…”
Without a word, we all started running.
And the place we arrived at was…
‘Grandfather’s office.’
Indeed.
We were not the only ones who had come to the office.
Most of the children who left earlier were gathered in front of it.
‘They all realized it too.’
The most noble place in Astra must be the room of the household head!
“People are wondering when the Head will come out.”
“Don’t push.”
“Is he inside? Can’t we go in?”
The children whispered among themselves.
I quietly observed Grandfather’s office.
An obvious location.
Ranking.
Test.
Combining all the hints from Viscount Debussy, the answer became clear.
‘Use everything you have to open that door and go in.’
Children with powerful parents would contact them.
Those with good connections would use their network.
And those with physical prowess would sneak into the office.
It was truly a treasure hunt to determine the ‘real ranking’.
“Ah.”
A chuckle came from Joshua beside me.
The intelligent Joshua had also figured out the intention of the test.
Only Balzac was…
“Why? What? Why does everyone look like they know something, except me?”
…confused.
***
As time passed, the children of higher ranking began to grasp the intention of the test.
They scattered in different directions to devise a plan.
Geoffrey frowned.
‘What’s going on? Where is everyone going?’
Wasn’t this the most prestigious place?
Geoffrey, annoyed, kicked a girl standing beside him.
“Hey, messy hair.”
“Wha, what?!”
“Where’s everyone going?”
The girl, Deianira, with her crow-black and poodle-curly hair, was not very attractive or confident, but sometimes she was quite clever.
“Where are they going?”
“T-They seem to be figuring out a way to get into the office…”
“A way?”
“Uh-huh. Getting into the office is the real test…”
As Deianira spoke timidly, Geoffrey’s face contorted in anger.
“Why didn’t you tell me that earlier!”
“G-Geoffrey, you just asked me now…”
While Deianira stammered, Geoffrey quickly ran off.
‘That tainted blood girl went somewhere too.’
The thought of getting humiliated by Balzac over that still infuriated him.
She seemed to have headed towards the annex.
‘Looks like she’s away from the twins…’
Geoffrey smirked.
It was time for her to face her initiation into the descendants’ education and understand her place.
‘She’ll learn what it means to be tainted blood.’
Geoffrey turned towards the annex.
He saw the yellow back of her head disappearing around a corner.
Following her, he found a storage room for cleaning supplies.
‘Ha, going to the storage, huh?’
With no way into the office, she must be looking for another angle.
Geoffrey snickered and cautiously approached the storage.
As Erylotte entered, he slammed the door shut behind her and locked it.
“You’ll stay there until dinner is over. That’s what tainted blood like you deserves for daring to come to the Astra castle!”
He laughed and left without looking back.
