Thought It Was 'The End', Only to Return to a Changed Genre - Chapter 2
“Lloyd.”
“Yes, master.”
“Could you stop calling me ‘master’?”
“I don’t wish to.”
Adeline glanced briefly at the watch she had personally acquired with a complicated look in her eyes.
Just calling him master, this boy who wouldn’t obediently submit was destined to grow up to be an assassin picked up by the boss of an underground criminal organization, aiming for his life.
He used to be a respectful and obedient child, but how did he end up like this?
“Let’s have a toast. Today is the day I’ve been waiting for all my life.”
“You said you’ve been waiting for the day the saintess gets married.”
“Yeah. I’m finally free now!”
“Well, I wonder…”
“Hmm?”
“Never mind. It’s nothing. If that’s what the master wants, then so be it.”
Lloyd glanced briefly at the front-page article of the newspaper.
The exaggerated headline of the article covering the Wedding of the Century, with the radiant smile of the saintess.
And the face of the man standing quietly next to the saintess, also smiling.
Adeline had repeatedly said that they were meant to be together. She had even orchestrated her own death for that.
A predetermined fate, and a happy ending.
‘Really?’
Lloyd thought as he looked at the man’s face in the newspaper.
Is that really the beginning of the ‘happy ending’ Adeline had talked about so much?
‘That crazy gaze?’

Having finally achieved the ‘happy ending’ she had waited for all her life, Adeline decided to return to the imperial capital of Delmez after a long time.
It was all because of one letter.
<Obituary: Emma Bertrand>
No matter how much of a disobedient daughter she was, she couldn’t avoid attending her mother’s funeral.
If it had been before the ending, she wouldn’t have been able to go even if she wanted to, but now that everything was over, she wanted to fulfill at least the minimum duty as a daughter. She was the one who gave birth to her and raised her, even if all Adeline did was disappoint her.
But then, this happened.
“You should get up now, Adeline.”
“Huuk.”
Why did she get kidnapped?
‘And by the male lead.’
In front of her was the male lead, Shane, smiling gently. His black hair was much longer than Adeline remembered.
A little older, a little…
Adeline blinked, cutting off her thoughts.
His still beautiful blue eyes seemed oddly bright, as if they were shimmering like the sea.
The color blue is a mixture of feelings, whether despair or hope.
“Huh?”
“Long time no see, my beloved fiancée.”
“Fiancée? You’re already married.”
Instead of answering, Shane grinned broadly. Adeline felt somehow unfamiliar with his smile. It wasn’t just affectionate; it felt somewhat chilling.
There was a cold madness in it.
“If I had known you’d fall for such a simple trick like a death notice, I would have done it sooner.”
“What…?”
Adeline caught her breath. She didn’t know where this was, but it felt like she shouldn’t stay still.
As she tried to get up from her lying position, Shane approached her closely. In the dark shadow looming over her, Adeline unknowingly recoiled and leaned back against the bed headboard.
“Shh, calm down.”
“You kidnapped someone and now you’re telling them to calm down?! Does that make sense?!”
“If you don’t, I’m afraid you’ll disappear again.”
His voice was still gentle, his smiling face still pretty, but something was off. The man who never looked away from her for even a moment was not in his right mind.
Shane smiled affectionately. His blue eyes gleamed brightly.
A large hand touched her cheek. The gentle caress was warm, but the skin was slightly rough and firm. Adeline unconsciously furrowed her brow.
Her hands were trembling slightly.
Did she feel something wrong? He’s the one who should be trembling after doing something like this.
It should have been him.
However, strangely, even though she knew she was trapped, she didn’t feel like this hand could harm her.
Shane wouldn’t do that.
There was that trust.
“It feels like I’m dreaming. That you’re really alive and moving.”
“Is that so? It’s more like a nightmare.”
“Oh? But it feels more like reality now. Unlike you.”
There was a thorn in his words.
“Where are we? Shall we go out first and talk? I’ll explain everything, okay?” Adeline pleaded.
It seemed like they needed to have a conversation. Shane tugged the corner of his mouth at Adeline’s words.
As if mocking her words.
“Then you’ll run away again.”
“…No…”
“My pretty fiancée who’s good at lying.”
“……”
“Now you can’t go anywhere.”
Damn it, I f-cked up.
