Towards the Winter Cabin of Serenity and Madness, Cinderella Runs - Chapter 74
The thoughts that normal people wouldn’t lie and put on an act in broad daylight clashed fiercely with the suspicion that Kyden couldn’t have done such things.
“So, you’re saying Kyden is the second-in-command leader of the Wild Dogs Mercenary Band and that he got rid of some bad organization while searching for me?”
“Exactly! What a devoted guy he is.”
Still, it seemed unbelievable. Roel wondered if she should find Kyden right now and tell him to run.
“Anyway, the reason I’m here is… I hope Sister-in-law can convince Kyden.”
“….Convince him? Me?”
There was a reason the leader had been rambling to the naive Roel. He believed that if Roel persuaded Kyden, he could recruit him. No matter how stubborn a man is, he can be swayed by the words of a woman he loves. It was an old and cunning strategy.
“If Kyden officially joins our Wild Dogs Mercenary Band as second-in-command…”
“Didn’t you just say Kyden is already your second-in-command? Then why do you need him to join officially?”
“Ah, well, it’s not official yet. We hope he makes it official now.”
“But why are you telling me this…?”
The leader looked around nervously, lowered his head, and whispered as if sharing a secret operation plan.
“If Sister-in-law could persuade Kyden, I’ll make sure you’re taken care of. And it’s all for Kyden’s benefit…”
“But Kyden and I aren’t anything special to each other.”
The leader was shocked, Ace was shocked, and the other mercenaries drinking beer were equally shocked.
“What?”
“Huh?”
“What do you mean by that?”
Roel, looking bewildered, clarified.
“Kyden and I aren’t anything special. I don’t have the right to tell him to work for the Wild Dogs Mercenary Band…”
The leader, in a state of shock, slammed his forehead on the table with a loud thud. After shaking off the dizziness, he lifted his head and shouted.
“Are you saying that guy is still in a one-sided love?”
What kind of guy remains stuck in unrequited love, going as far as to take down an entire dark organization to find the person he loves?
The Wild Dogs Mercenary Band fell into a state of panic.

Kyden returned to the inn with his hands full of dresses for Roel. He had chosen neat, elegant clothes that exuded a sense of refinement.
“Hmm?”
As Kyden walked into the inn, his brow furrowed. He had told the innkeeper not to take in any guests, but the restaurant was bustling with noise. Had the innkeeper ignored his instructions? His expression grew even darker as he stepped into the dining area.
‘What are those bastards doing here…?’
The moment he recognized the faces of those noisily chattering in the restaurant, he felt incredibly annoyed. The most infuriating thing was seeing Roel sitting across from the leader.
What the hell are you bastards doing here? He nearly shouted, but stopped himself, remembering Roel was present. Instead, he marched over, his jaw set.
“What are you doing?”
“Ah, Kyden, you’re back?”
The leader looked at Kyden with eyes full of pity and sympathy. Poor guy, it was just a one-sided love. He seemed fine on the outside, but he was a complete idiot.
“I said, what are you doing?”
“We were just having a chat with dear sister-in-law.”
“Who’s your sister-in-law?”
“Ahem, don’t get too worked up. We were just telling her how deep and genuine your love is.”
Kyden’s vision flickered white.
“…What?”
“Anyway, it’s time for us to leave. We’re always rooting for you.”
Sensing that Kyden was about to lose his temper, the leader stood up quickly and patted Kyden’s shoulder. Without looking back, he left the inn.
Realizing they were in a dangerous situation, the other members of the Wild Dogs Mercenary Band also made a hasty exit, having seen Kyden’s face turning red with anger.
“…”
Roel remained seated, looking up at Kyden. She was trying to decide whether to ask him about the outrageous and confusing things she’d heard.
“Kyden.”
When Roel called his name, Kyden flinched. Though his gaze was fixed on the floor, his shoulders trembled slightly, showing that he had heard her.
