Villain, Let Me Touch You! - Chapter 46
With our breath caught in our throats, we spotted an unoccupied horse-drawn carriage. The inner palace’s circulating carriages were operated for the convenience of the palace visitors.
“If you wanted exercise, you should have gone to the training grounds,” Jamie muttered, breathless and gasping for air, her blouse fluttering.
“It’s not that serious.”
“Are you going to run again?”
“No, I think that was enough.”
I slumped into the carriage chair, lost in thought.
I could see Lord Benz’s symptoms.
I looked down at my hands.
I was able to cure him. I wonder if I can use my powers on others.
If that were the case, I could become rich in no time. You might say, what’s the point of being rich if I was going to die, but the more money one has, the better. Suppose I donate all my remaining property before I die—donations, especially large sums, garner considerable attention, so it would be best to become wealthy when I could.
And it’s money I can earn with my abilities!
I envisioned myself walking across 2nd Avenue, the capital’s busiest street.
‘Why should I clear the carriage if you’re not even a landowner?’
While walking along the street, a man picked a fight with me.
‘I’m the landowner here. From here alllllll the waaaay to the eeeeend, it’s my land.’
Ah, it felt like taking a bath in sparkling water. I couldn’t help but laugh just imagining it.
“My knees are killing me, and you’re laughing?”
Jamie interrupted my immature fantasy. I straightened up and looked at her.
“Your knee hurts?”
“Yes, I think I twisted it while running.”
Jamie hiked up her skirt. Her left knee did look a bit swollen, looking bigger than her right one. My chance to see if my powers had leveled up or if it was just a fluke came sooner than I expected.
“Let’s see.”
I grabbed Jamie’s calf and pulled it slightly.
“….”
“Why are you looking so serious? Can I still use that leg? Do you have to amputate it?”
“Why are you saying such scary things? I’m just concerned that we went a little overboard. Apply a cold compress to it and I’ll take a look at it again after the swelling calms down.”
It wasn’t Jamie’s knee that was the problem—I just couldn’t see any writing. So she couldn’t get treatment. I let go of Jamie’s legs and lowered her skirt.
“Please refrain from using the stairs for the time being. I’ll ask the valet to give you a ride back.”
Resting an aching knee by not using it was the best treatment. Jamie mumbled that she had a lot of work to do, but I wasn’t really listening.
My heart, which had swelled up as if leveling up, burst like a balloon. I suddenly felt worried, without any disappointment.
Why did my ability manifest only with Benz? Oh, it must be a coincidence, right?
I hoped it was a coincidence that my ability only manifested on Helios and Benz, the men who will imprint with Chloe. For the first time in a long time, I stuck my head out the window, praying to the transmigration god.
“That’s dangerous!” Jamie chided me.
Still, I opened my mouth and enjoyed the cool breeze, hoping that the wind would carry away the unease I felt in my heart.
***
“I heard you didn’t meet with the Queen Mother?”
“Yes, I ended up being the bastard who stood up the Queen.”
It was only when lying side by side with Helios in bed that I realized the gravity of the situation.
The Baroness stood up the Queen! What if Demyr sends a knight to catch me? Suddenly, I was terrified.
“What’s bothering you, Rienna? I’m here, don’t worry.”
Helios squeezed my hand. Despite his reassurance, I couldn’t calm down. Demyr’s temperament was far from ordinary.
Yet, despite the discomfort, holding his hand felt reassuring and my body relaxed.
“If you’re sleepy, you can sleep.”
Helios’s voice gradually faded away. It was that moment that I drifted off to sleep.
“Where’s that pink-haired one?”
Demyr, whom I thought would send a knight, came to find me personally. Her voice was heavily charged with emotion.
