Villain, Let Me Touch You! - Chapter 52
“Hmm.”
Judging by Benz’s reaction, I indeed heard it right. Helios glared at him for his awkward reaction.
“What’s with the look on your face? Pretending not to hear like you heard something embarrassing? Is it strange for me to say I can’t sleep without my fiancée?”
“Prospective, Your Highness.”
“Yes, prospective fiancée.”
I felt more at ease correcting his words, not him. Instead of picking up the bomb Helios dropped, I let it slip through my fingers.
“Everything Your Highness is right. If your hearts are truly aligned, it’s only natural. They say you never want to be apart from the person you love. Though I have yet to personally experience such a feeling…”
Benz earnestly defended himself, though I’m exactly sure what he was trying to justify.
“I’m not the only one. Rienna can’t live without me, right?” Helios discreetly brushed against my side.
My head was throbbing, and his touch made the pain go away like magic.
Helios is right. I can’t live without him.
It was an objective statement of fact that didn’t need to be corrected.
“W-Well, that’s true. Haha, why is it so hot in here?”
Benz’s neck and face above his shirt were not just red, but seemed like he was about to burst.
“Are you feeling feverish?”
I reached out my hand to check his temperature, also testing if my ability was working.
However, it wasn’t my hand that touched Benz’s forehead but Helios’s—Helios’ hand on Ben’s forehead, my hand on his.
“No fever, Rienna.”
Helios lightly pushed Benz’s forehead and half-raised me to sit back down.
“But shouldn’t I check for a fever just in case? I’m the doctor, after all.”
“I said there was no fever. You don’t have one, right?” Helios asked Benz, narrowing his eyes.
It was the kind of stare that coerced anyone on the receiving end to agree or else.
Sure enough, Benz hastily nodded his head.
I subtly jabbed Helios’s side. He widened his eyes as our gazes met.
I pouted, hoping to send the message that I wanted him to separate Demyr and Benz and look at them as two different people.
Stop being so stubborn. It’s my job. Don’t interfere.
He furrowed his brow. Helios, whose cheeks puffed up just enough for me to notice, leaned back against the backrest.
It was a clear signal that he wouldn’t interfere in the conversation anymore. Just as he seemed determined, he suddenly straightened his posture, leaned close to my ear, and whispered.
“Just promise me one thing. You won’t change rooms.”
Why does he act like a puppy with separation anxiety? Though I suppose he does resemble a golden retriever.
I nodded, holding back the urge to laugh at the absurdity of my imagination. Only then did Helios give a satisfied smile and back away.
Nearly an hour after Benz entered the Crown Prince’s Palace, the historic first examination began.
“Could you tell me more about your illness?”
As Helios leaned back, Benz became noticeably more comfortable. He calmly explained the symptoms he had experienced.
As I listened to his calm and measured words, the more I became convinced of his label as a genius scientist.
His explanations are thorough and accurate, but also rather boring.
“You mentioned it’s irregular, but does it mostly occur at night?”
“Yes. That’s correct. Also, it might not be relevant, but before falling ill, I usually have nightmares.”
“Nightmares?”
That’s quite peculiar.
I wondered if it was just me who thought so, but Helios, who had been eavesdropping on Benz’s words, also showed interest.
“What kind of nightmares do you have?”
“It’s nothing special.”
Seeing that it seemed difficult for him to explain, I didn’t press for more details.
What do dreams have to do with this disease?
I even found it amusing. I simply assumed that he was mentally exhausted from his illness.
“Just in case, I’ll keep a record. So, it seems you mainly experience seizures in the evening. In that case, it would be best for me to stay nearby so I can rush to you when you’re in pain… a room that’s available…”
“Use my room.”
Helios pointed to the wall to his left with a very generous expression. Beyond that wall was the Crown Prince’s bedroom.
The person who had ordered me to leave the Crown Prince’s Palace was now offering his room? Why the sudden change—I’m not going to lie, it’s kind of scary.
Shivering, I brushed my arms and asked, “What about you? Will you stay in another palace?”
“Why would I leave? Didn’t I say I can’t sleep without you? I’ll use this room. Rienna, you can stay with me.”
Helios grinned.
Our Crown Prince has everything planned out.
But why is there no room for my opinion in this plan?
