Villain, Let Me Touch You! - Chapter 59
With me on Helios’s back, I suggested heading straight back to the palace. But he said that since we had come so far, we should take a quick look around.
“I wouldn’t want to miss it either.”
I withdrew my suggestion to go back upon Helios’s additional remark. That’s how I found myself being carried on Helios’s back, touring the World’s Fair.
At first, I felt embarrassed and sorry, not even able to lift my head. However, later on, I reached the point of directing Helios, saying, “Let’s go over there. Left, no, right.”
Helios obediently took me to wherever I wanted, like a well-trained horse.
“Aren’t you thirsty?”
“A little.”
I wasn’t actually thirsty. However, the thought crossed my mind that Helios, carrying me, might be parched himself.
“Let’s have a drink over there.”
Helios pointed with his chin, and in front of us was a mini-cafe in a beautifully refurbished carriage house.
While other cafes were crowded with customers, this particular one had no guests, despite its charming appearance. Seeing the lack of customers in contrast to the lovely exterior, I could already anticipate the taste of the drinks.
As I was about to suggest going elsewhere, we arrived at the cafe.
“Welcome, guests.”
The waitress greeted me as we walked up to our seats. She was even kind enough to pull out a chair for me.
They must have been waiting for guests for a long time.
Not wanting to disappoint the waitress, I abandoned the idea of going to another place. Helios carefully set me down, and it felt as if I were sitting on a chair filled with feathers. I didn’t even realize when I touched it, but suddenly, I found myself seated.
“What would you like to eat?”
Helios took a seat across from me, sliding the menu brought by the waitress towards me. I leaned my upper body over the table to get a closer look at the menu.
As we got closer, the scent of sandalwood wafted in. It was my favorite scent. It was Helios’s scent.
Unconsciously, I sniffed the air, and as he leaned back, he brought his wrist to his nose to check.
“Do I smell like sweat? I haven’t sweated.”
“No, it’s not that.”
“But why are you sniffing like a dog?”
“If you must compare me to an animal, please say a puppy at least, Your Highness. By the way, there’s something I’ve been wanting to ask.”
“Decide what to drink first, then ask. If you can’t decide, we’ll order everything.”
Since coming to this world, I keenly felt the difference between family conglomerates and royalty. Even if you combined ten conglomerates, it wouldn’t compare to the wealth one royal family possessed.
So, their sense of money was so different from mine. Maybe they didn’t feel the value of money.
‘Perhaps it’s not that they don’t find it valuable, but rather they don’t consider it wasteful.’
I didn’t want to teach him the importance of money.
It is true that rich people spend a lot. Stimulating the domestic economy by encouraging consumption was a viable solution to economic problems.
Certainly, the empire was experiencing economic growth comparable to developing countries, so there was no need for solutions to its economic problems.
Unless it was a societal issue like wealth disparity.
“Yes. Please order everything from top to bottom.”
I didn’t want to stop him from spending money.
Helios handed the menu to the waitress.
“Did you hear? Everything from top to bottom.”
The waitress smiled broadly. She didn’t look too well when we sat down, but now she was beaming.
As expected, the best kind of therapy is retail therapy.
I rested my chin in my hand.
“What kind of drink would you like, hot or iced?”
“Give us both hot and iced. Don’t you understand the meaning of ordering everything?”
Helios looked at the waitress with a disdainful expression.
“Yes! Yes, understood. I’ll prepare it right away. But the table is too small—what should I do?”
“Place them wherever on the table. Leave the pineapple juice here. What will you have?”
“I’ll have the same thing.”
Two pineapple juices, and the waitress mumbled as she distanced himself.
“If you’re just going to have pineapple juice, why did you make me order everything?”
Helios shook his head. He wasn’t asking because he wanted to save money, but because he was genuinely curious about my intentions.
I glanced around. Then I noticed people hiding among the crowd.
They were clearly the guards who had followed us from the palace.
