Villain, Let Me Touch You! - Chapter 60
Considering Helios’s desire for discretion, it must have been challenging for them to watch over him from a distance instead of the usual close protection. Even if I didn’t know, being twice as cautious as usual must have been nerve-wracking for them.
I felt grateful and sorry at the same time for the trouble they went through just because I asked to come to the World Fair.
So, I wanted to express my appreciation, even if in a small way.
Not with my money, though.
“It’s not just us here. It would be nice if the guards also had some.”
Helios immediately frowned, as if he didn’t understand why he should, but as usual, he went along with my request without any objection.
“Vincenzo.”
He popped out of the carriage house behind the cafe. He must have used some sort of signaling device, because he moved immediately at the sound of Helios’s voice.
“Yes, you called.”
“Tell the guards to sit and eat casually. If they have something they want.”
Helios glanced at me briefly. Whatever he read from my face, he let out a sigh and continued speaking.
“Order as much as you want. Just one hour, take a break. But keep a low profile.”
“Understood!”
Vincenzo responded assertively. This time, too, whether he used a magical communication device or not, shortly after, the guards in plainclothes began to take their seats at the tables.
Vincenzo explained to the waitress, whose face brightened even more.
The guards carried out Helios’s orders excellently. Their attempts to order drinks and evaluate the taste, like regular customers, looked quite awkward and amusing on the small tables.
The bulky figures huddled around the table, discussing the taste of the beverages, were genuinely endearing.
For a moment, I wondered if something was wrong with my taste in men. So I looked at Helios.
He didn’t look shy or embarrassed by my stare. In fact, he straightened his posture almost as if he wanted me to get a better look.
I wanted to say something about his cockiness, but his dignified demeanor was too impressive, and I found myself speechless. I took a good look at him and then averted my gaze.
Until just a moment ago, the guards, who seemed like big cuties, now looked like squids. My sense of taste was still intact.
The waiter brought out pineapple juice for us first. Although I didn’t have a particular craving, seeing the sweet and sour aroma and the glass filled with ice changed my mind.
“Your Highness, please try it.”
I tasted the pineapple juice after offering it to Helios.
“Wow!”
It was a refreshing taste that made my eyes widen. The waitress was kind, perceptive, and the drink tasted great. Why were there no customers?
It was delicious enough to raise powerful questions.
“Not bad. This place seems to have the best reputation.”
“Really? Did you know about it before coming?”
“No, I had no idea.”
Helios avoided eye contact and feigned nonchalance. Only then did I understand why the cafe was empty. Helios had probably borrowed it. Given his aversion to interacting with others and his likely disdain for waiting in line to get a drink and find a seat, it made sense.
What intrigued me was another aspect.
The way he talked, it sounded like he knew about the cafe in advance.
Did he investigate before coming here with me?
Helios set down the glass, running his fingers through his slightly disheveled hair. I was too busy watching his actions to organize my thoughts. I had postponed my next question, but there was no opportunity.
“Now, we will proceed with this year’s Imprinting Research Presentation.”
The event I wanted to see had begun.
“This is a great seat, We can even see the stage from here.”
“I wonder who picked it?”
It seemed Helios had rented the cafe, considering the presentation. As expected, there was nothing he couldn’t do, even though there were many things he chose not to do.
Come to think of it, something felt odd.
“Your Highness, is it not a secret that you rented this place?”
“Why? You seem to have noticed, so why hide it? Since you’ve noticed, enjoy it to the fullest. It’s good to receive compliments.”
Helios smirked, his left cheek displaying a cute dimple.
It reminded me of the writer’s expression about wanting to drown in the well of his smile. Our author truly had an incredible way with words. For a brief moment, I felt a connection with them.
However, that feeling was short-lived. Soon enough, I was resentful again of this damned author.
“Hey, isn’t that person!”
Chloe Dorian had stepped onto the stage. And beside her was Kama.
His eyes were filled with affection as he looked at her. The person Kama was talking about imprinting was indeed Chloe Dorian.
This wasn’t how it went in the novel.
