Villain, Let Me Touch You! - Chapter 61
With a sprained ankle and the shock of Chloe’s sudden appearance, I had to hurry back to the palace to recover.
Helios had returned to his duties, and I immediately barricaded myself in the room.
This isn’t what happened in the original story.
Chloe was selected as Researcher of the Year at today’s presentation. It was Duke Marzov who presented her with the award, and one of the four male leads who’ll imprint on Chloe belonged to the same Duke’s House, Carsey from the noble family of Marzov.
It’s all different from the original.
Although Chloe was depicted as a smart character in the novel, she wasn’t an imprint researcher. More importantly, Duke Marzov wasn’t the kind of person who sponsored imprint research. On the contrary, the Marzovs were a swordsmanship clan renowned for their martial prowess that earned them the moniker of ‘Sword of the Continent’.
There was one sentence that could succinctly describe the Duke of Marzov.
Live by the sword, die by the sword.
Would a family like that suddenly donate a hefty sum of money for the research presentation for the World Fair to the point where they would be the ones presenting the award?
Something else was different.
There were undoubtedly four people who were imprinted with Chloe, and Kama wasn’t one of them.
Was there really a fifth man who imprinted with her and I just missed it?
No. The author stated multiple times that there were only four men who were imprinted with Chloe.
The nature of imprinting was to only have one-for-one. Even for only two people to imprint with a single person was extraordinary, but Chloe was destined to have four. To later reveal that it wasn’t four but actually five—that wouldn’t be much of a plot twist.
No matter how buffed the protagonist is, she’s never going to have more than four.
The author already got a lot of flack for twisting the rules of their setting like that on social media—they weren’t going to make it worse by adding one more.
There are only four people who have imprinted with the heroine.
So was Kama lying to me, or maybe I just misunderstood the look in his eyes?
Both hypotheses were highly unlikely. Kama didn’t seem like the type to lie. Although I’ve only interacted with him briefly, I’d never seen a kinder and more good-natured person in my life—both lives actually, this one and the past.
And those eyes. If the way he looked at Chloe was fake, then there was no such thing as love in the world.
I should meet Kama in private.
I wanted to be sure.
If Kama truly imprinted with Chloe, it would mean that the story had significantly deviated from the original plot. In that case, the fate of one of the four people who originally imprinted with Chloe could have been altered as well. And if, by some change, that person turned out to be Helios…
Could I be saved?
Hope surged within me.
Just going from 0 to 25 percent chance of Helios imprinting me was enough to send a shiver down my spine.
Kyaah!
I balled up my first and bounced around the room. It was too late when I remembered that I did just hurt my ankle.
“Ouch.”
It popped. Even someone who wasn’t a doctor to recognize a tweaked ligament.
I rolled over, clutching my ankle. I needed to call Jamie.
When Helios moved me to the Crown Princess’s room, he installed emergency call bells all over the place, preparing for any unforeseen circumstances. They varied in height and location. It was ridiculous to see them at the foot of the bed, by the doorknob, and near the mop rack. Back then, I thought there was no way I was going to press them at that height.
I was stupid. No, Helios was excessively wise.
The moment for using the emergency bell in an awkward location had arrived.
I raised my hand to the bell placed beside the window.
Beep, beep, beep.
The bell rang so loudly that it hurt my ears.
He told me it’s a bell only for calling Jamie.
It was a Code Blue emergency. The entire Crown Prince’s residence echoed with the urgent sound.
Footsteps reverberated through the corridor, and the door burst open.
“Rienna!”
“Doctor!”
“Miss Rienna!”
It wasn’t only Jamie who rushed in at the sound of the emergency bell.
Helios, Jamie, Vincenzo, and even Benz.
“What’s wrong?”
Everyone was concerned. Especially Helios, who hadn’t even broken a sweat carrying me around at the World Fair, now had beads of sweat on his forehead.
Seeing him gasp for breath, it seemed like he sprinted at full speed the moment the bell rang.
