Villain, Let Me Touch You! - Chapter 79
“I’d like to know who Helios is going to imprint on.”
“May I ask why?”
Priscilla rattled off a series of reasons, her prepared tone working effectively.
“It’s for the stability of the Empire. As everyone knows, Helios has been unwell for quite some time, right? During that period, there was significant turmoil in the imperial court. We all prayed for Helios’s recovery and took charge of the affairs related to that child. It was such a busy time… My skin suffered from it.”
Chloe’s eyes lit up, but internally, she stifled a yawn.
“At that time, I thought, we must prevent the palace from falling into chaos again. Out of concern for my people, I spent days thinking about how to stabilize the palace.”
“Have you found a way?”
“I found the answer. Up above, it’s crucial for the Emperor and the Queen Mother to be strong, and down below, the cornerstone, the Crown Prince, must be robust.”
Priscilla’s face crumpled at the mention of the Queen Mother, but Chloe pretended not to notice. Perhaps Priscilla herself was unaware, as it was likely an unconscious action.
Chloe leaned slightly forward, feigning interest in Priscilla’s words. Priscilla grew more excited.
She rambled on and on about how much she loved the empire, but Chloe disregarded most of what Priscilla said.
It was the last thing that mattered.
“That’s why I want to know who Helios’s imprintee will be so I can protect them.”
Lies.
Priscilla regarded Helios like a thorn in her side.
Protecting the person Helios will imprint with? No, you can’t kill Helios, so you’re trying to kill the person he’ll imprint with.
But that could never happen. Helios would imprint on Chloe herself.
But there was no need to tell Priscilla that. For Chloe to achieve her goal, she still needed Priscilla.
Good. I’ll use this opportunity to find the woman who’s interfering with my plans around Prince Helios. Well, the answer seems clear already.
The pink-haired woman who had healed Benz.
“To be honest, it’s challenging considering my ability isn’t fully developed, Your Grace. And I’m not even sure.”
Priscilla’s face grew cold. The icy look on her face sent chills down Chloe’s spine.
But Chloe managed to remain calm.
“When I met with Her Grace, I wanted to politely decline. However, hearing your story touched me. Your devotion to the empire moved me. If my humble abilities can contribute to the stability of the empire, I would gladly assist.”
“Your help will be appreciated.”
Priscilla’s eyes rounded, and she took Chloe’s hand.
“I’ll give you anything if you can find who Helios will imprint on. What do you desire?”
“No rewards are necessary, Your Grace. It would be a pleasure to serve the imperial family as a citizen of the empire.”
Priscilla’s eyes gleamed like crescent moons. With each word Chloe spoke, Priscilla found herself charmed.
Priscilla was amazed at her own eloquence, to have been able to convince this child to help her for nothing in return with just a few words.
“If you need anything later, let me know. When will we find out?”
“Well, about that…”
Chloe cautiously gauged Priscilla’s reaction. It seemed like Chloe had something she wanted to say.
“Go on, speak.”
“I need to investigate His Highness the Crown Prince.”
“Ah, yes. That makes sense.”
“The more familiar I am with him, the more accurate I can be. You know what they say: knowledge is power.”
Priscilla was completely taken in by Chloe’s words.
“That’s right. That saying holds true. I’ll find a way for you two to meet.”
Priscilla thought to herself for a while. In the meantime, Chloe had finished her cup of tea.
Clink, when Chloe placed the teacup down, Priscilla snapped her fingers.
“My birthday is approaching. I’ll hold a celebration then, and you can see him there.”
“But Her Grace’s celebrations are typically reserved for special guests. How could someone humble like me attend the Imperial Consort’s birthday celebrations?”
“Humble, you say. Now, you’re now my friend. Besides, you’re doing significant work for the country, serving as a great aide to the Emperor. I’ll send you an invitation. Oh, and I’ll send you an appropriate dress and accessories as well.”
Priscilla highly valued dignity. She couldn’t tolerate someone showing up to her celebration with a shabby dress. Although the dress Chloe was currently wearing was fine enough, it was clear she couldn’t present herself at Priscilla’s celebration without an invitation.
“You honor me, Your Grace.”
“Your Grace? Forget about that. Saying that you’re my friend aren’t just empty words. If you manage to find out who Helios will imprint on, you could be more than just a friend.”
Priscilla liked Chloe. She would keep her by her side and use her for a long time.
Chloe, on the other hand, felt the exact opposite about Priscilla.
She’s not the kind of person I can keep close for long.
This time was just a temporary alliance.
Chloe and Priscilla looked at each other and smiled.
