Violet Zerotta's Hasty Marriage - Chapter 23
Unaware of Violet’s thoughts, Aldrick was now lying in the small bed, having just washed up, purposefully positioned far from hers.
Just as she was about to give up and lie down on her own bed, a sudden impulse stirred within Violet.
If she was going to be considerate, she might as well go a step further. Aldrick might be in quite a painful state right now.
He was thoroughly trying not to touch her, but inside, he could still be boiling over with desire. She wasn’t unaware of how stiff and aroused he was every morning when he woke up.
Violet quietly ignored her own feelings, that she had grown so used to his warmth in just a month that she now disliked sleeping alone.
And then she made a guess about his feelings.
So Aldrick must want to sleep with me, too. Now that we’ve gotten used to traveling, maybe I should tell him it’s okay to do our ‘duty’…
Their stormy wedding night was already a month in the past. The embarrassment and pain from that night had begun to fade a little, and so Violet thought about it more calmly.
It was terribly awkward to be the one to bring it up first, but in the end, she lost to her lingering attachment to his warmth.
“Aldrick. Are you asleep?”
“No, I haven’t fallen asleep yet. Why? Do you need something? Are you thirsty? Should I get you some water?”
“No, it’s not that.”
Violet sat up and approached his bed. As she neared, she could sense his body tensing.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s just… I’ve gotten used to falling asleep together, so sleeping alone feels a little empty. Why did you get us a room with separate beds today?”
As she sat gently on the edge of his bed, Aldrick avoided her gaze.
“I just thought… we should try staying in a room like this once…”
“Liar.”
“…Sleeping in the same bed is kind of painful… I don’t think I can keep holding back anymore…”
Seeing him admit the truth so readily, Violet felt a bit satisfied.
“I didn’t know it was painful for you. Then… are you saying it wouldn’t be painful if we did that?”
“T-That… what do you mean by that—”
“Don’t act like you don’t know. That just makes it more embarrassing for me.”
She didn’t know what else to call that act aside from ‘duty’ or ‘work’. Feeling self-conscious, Violet cleared her throat awkwardly.
“So? If we do that, can we sleep in the same bed again?”
Even under the dim light, she could tell his face was bright red.
“W-Well, yes, but you don’t have to force yourself. I’m fine just… falling asleep. I can hold back, it’s okay…”
“I don’t want you to suffer holding back. And… it’s not like I hated it. I guess I was just being a bit petty.”
Saying that, Violet leaned in. He really hadn’t touched her at all since then. She’d even begun to wonder if he had started to dislike her—that’s how thoroughly he kept his distance.
Now that she knew that wasn’t the case, Violet felt a bit relieved. And with that, she found some courage.
Thinking back, since Aldrick had returned, every little peck and deep kiss had always come from him first.
Wouldn’t it be fine if she made the first move, just once? She figured she liked him enough to do that much.
“V-Violet—”
As her lips drew closer, he stammered in a voice ill-suited to his size. He looked like he might faint.
Because he suddenly straightened his torso as if trying to escape, their lips met a little earlier than she expected.
Violet tried to remember what Aldrick had done to her. Softly press their lips together, and then… he had used his tongue, hadn’t he?
Even her slightest movement made Aldrick’s breath grow rough. But Violet didn’t let that stop her. She focused on the kiss. Once she started something, she believed in finishing it properly.
So engrossed in the kiss, she didn’t even notice she had nearly climbed on top of him.
Feeling uncomfortable from the position, she braced herself on his shoulder, pulled back briefly, adjusted the angle, and pressed her lips to his again.
Before she realized it, one of Aldrick’s arms had wrapped tightly around her waist. Supporting both their weights with his other arm behind him, he returned her kiss.
When he responded, a tingling thrill spread through Violet’s heart. It felt strange but rewarding to know she could affect Aldrick like this.
The deep kiss left Violet’s head hazy with heat. His lips and tongue were so pleasant—soft, moist, and rich, like smooth cream.
Before she knew it, Violet had forgotten all propriety and embarrassment. Kneeling on either side of his hips, she wrapped her arms around his neck.
She was starting to understand why Aldrick enjoyed kissing and hugging her so much.
