What Became of the Tyrant After the Pregnant Empress Left - Chapter 35
The Hertie Kingdom, famous as a tourist destination, existed in the southwestern part of the continent. With several mountains existing on the passage to the Uzephia Empire, it wasn’t a place where lively exchanges usually occurred.
“What wind has blown on His Majesty?”
“It’s about time to focus on diplomacy. Haven’t we dealt with other countries in a rather haphazard way until now?”
Kazhan Tennilath, the Conqueror King. Their emperor, who instilled fear throughout the continent by swallowing up several neighboring countries as soon as he ascended the throne, was a notorious tyrant.
As much as he pushed through against the opposition of the nobles, his attitude towards other countries was not gentle. Kazhan’s style was to dominate through coercion and violence.
But suddenly, he decided to accept an invitation from the Hertie Kingdom. What was most surprising was that he was taking the empress, whom he had kept tightly hidden in the imperial palace.
“Does this even make sense!”
Crash!
The glass pot flew from Runellia’s hand and shattered noisily. The servants in the Empress Palace held their breath and bowed their heads at their master’s outburst.
“What is the reason for taking the empress instead of me? Go and find out!”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
Runellia sent out the maid with a huff. Though she had thrown a tantrum in her anger, she knew that they would not be able to obtain any information, which made her even more furious.
No one knew better than she did that Kazhan loved Ysaris.
No, only she knew. It even appeared as if the emperor himself was unaware, longing for the empress.
But isn’t this a breach of contract? At least on the surface, he was supposed to pretend to love Runellia.
It was he who sought cooperation in trampling the empress.
“You will regret it, Your Majesty.”
Runellia gnashed her teeth with a distant look.
Anyway, the relationship between the emperor and the empress was twisted beyond repair. Even if he treated her well now, it wouldn’t change anything, and eventually, he would have no choice but to come to her.
So why did it feel so stifling?
Runellia irritably threw the cup. She glared at the shattered glass that broke with a sharp sound and then abruptly turned around.
“I must meet the empress. I must go and trample her thoroughly.”
With that, her angry steps headed toward the Empress Palace.

Meanwhile, Ysaris was not in her room but elsewhere.
“No matter how much the Empress requests it, I cannot give such a large amount of sleeping pills at once.”
“But won’t I be going away for a few weeks? If the schedule gets delayed, I will need enough for a month.”
“Then I should get more there.”
“Do you intend to let all the kingdoms know that the Empress of Uzephia has a flaw? They will think that the imperial physician is so incompetent that he can’t even fix something like that.”
“…”
Ysaris ignored Viscount Laffero’s irritated gaze. She hid her tension and maintained a confident attitude.
“It seems you don’t want that. Then give me the sleeping pills.”
“Whew…”
Viscount Laffero sighed tiredly, took off his glasses, and wiped them with a handkerchief. He fell silent for a moment before cautiously asking,
“How can I be sure that Her Majesty the Empress won’t do something reckless with them?”
It was a valid point. If Ysaris overdosed on sleeping pills and something went wrong, he would bear the full blame.
Understanding his defensive stance, Ysaris nodded. She responded in a calm and understanding voice.
“I understand your position, Viscount. But think about it. If I had the intention to harm myself, I would have done it already. I wouldn’t go through such a troublesome process.”
“Hm.”
“Moreover, I am not alone right now. No one cherishes my body more than I do.”
Viscount Laffero couldn’t find any flaw in Ysaris’s words. After thoroughly cleaning his glasses, he put them back on and nodded.
“Very well. I will send them through Peony.”
“I will use them gratefully.”
Ysaris swallowed a sigh of relief and thanked Viscount Laffero. After receiving a dry farewell and leaving the building, she felt her heart pounding.
She felt exhilarated, almost like excitement, having successfully passed the first gateway for her escape. She was pleased to see hope for the first time in a long while, but she was also gripped by anxiety, not knowing when or how she might fail, causing her to walk faster automatically.
The large amount of sleeping pills was just one of the many conditions necessary for escape. There were other preparations to be made, such as various herbs for emergencies, valuable items that could be converted into money, makeshift weapons, and the travel route…
While Ysaris was systematically organizing her thoughts, she encountered a maid looking for her at the entrance of the Empress’s palace.
“Your Majesty, the Empress, Her Highness the Royal Consort has come to visit.”
