When Your Secret Crush Wizard Took a Love Potion - Chapter 101
I finally became lovers with the person I had always had a secret crush on for over ten years. Not just anyone, but Edgar—my family, friend, benefactor, and teacher!
If I had heard this just a few months ago, I would have screamed in shock at such an extraordinary turn of events. But now, having shared so much with Edgar and seen the depths of his character, the change didn’t feel as dramatic.
Our life in the cabin remained unchanged. It was so identical that it was almost a problem.
“Are we supposed to sleep apart?”
Even after becoming lovers, we still slept in separate rooms.
“Yeah. Even though our hearts are in sync, you’ll need your personal time. There’s no need to discard the beds we already have.”
Despite the situation being so filled with romance, Edgar’s comment was unusually matter-of-fact.
In the past, I might have misinterpreted this as him needing distance or not loving me enough. But now I know it’s better to ask directly than to make assumptions about his intentions.
“Why? Don’t you want to sleep with me?”
“There’s no way!”
When I asked directly, Edgar looked as if he was a priest denied by God. He was genuinely shocked, his mouth agape.
“Then tell me the reason. Edgar, you’re being so vague.”
As I pulled him closer, holding him tightly around the waist, he hesitated before finally wrapping his strong arms around my shoulders. Though not as blunt as when he had taken the love potion, Edgar was much more straightforward now than before.
“I just thought that if we kept sharing the same bed, I might end up being annoying, so I wanted to prevent that…”
“Are you worried I might hate you for being annoying?”
Edgar, who had been silent and groaning, slowly nodded in agreement.
“…Yeah.”
Seeing his profile, I noticed his eyes, cheeks, and even his earlobes were flushed red. I hoped he wouldn’t end up biting his tongue while speaking.
When he was under the love potion’s influence, his emotions were clear and unfiltered, making it overwhelming at times. But seeing him blush so shyly made me question if he was the same person.
“I understand for now.”
Before Edgar’s face could turn as red as a volcano, I agreed without hesitation. It was true that I also liked my room, which was filled with long-held memories.
“Well, that’s good.”
Although it was quite amusing to see Edgar looking so disappointed at his own suggestion, there was nothing to be done about it. I had only to prepare an excuse about feeling chilly on a cold night and knock on his bedroom door.
As planned, that night I stood in front of Edgar’s door.
“Edgar, it’s me.”
“Come on in.”
However, Edgar didn’t even wait to hear my excuse. He flung open the door with a cheerful expression and welcomed me with open arms. It seemed that I didn’t need to offer any excuse after all.
Inside Edgar’s bedroom, there was an old oak desk, a large bed, and a fireplace. The only additional furniture was a tall wooden lamp that provided a soft glow throughout the room.
Despite being similar in size to my room, Edgar’s bedroom looked even more serene due to its simple and unadorned decor. The only sign of daily life was the disheveled bed.
I placed the pillow I had brought on the bed and snuggled under the covers. As soon as I settled in, Edgar, who had been pacing around, lay down next to me as if he had been waiting for me.
“Is this too close?”
Noticing my gaze, Edgar mumbled as he pressed closer. He seemed ready to roll to the edge of the bed with the slightest movement, so I buried my nose against his solid chest first.
“This is just right.”
Edgar’s expression softened with a smile as he wrapped his arms around me. The sensation of his firm arms embracing me might have felt restrictive, but it had already become comforting and familiar.
I was lulled by his tender touch, feeling like I would drift into a deep sleep right away.
Before falling asleep, I deliberately opened my mouth and asked Edgar a question.
“Lately, don’t you find it strangely cold?”
The excuse of feeling chilly was partly true. Even though winter had long passed and the garden was full of blooming flowers, I had recently returned from traveling to the hot climate of the western region. Since coming back, I have been feeling unusually cold.
Moreover, the higher the altitude, the lower the temperature. Considering the cabin was situated much higher than the mountain’s midpoint, the weather was inevitably colder.
