When Your Secret Crush Wizard Took a Love Potion - Chapter 104
Who would come to visit us in such a remote mountain cabin? Especially since neither I nor Edgar have any real friends.
Before I could ask, I heard a knock on the door.
“You’re late!”
As I quickly got ready and left the room, the guest waiting at the entrance greeted us with a gruff tone.
“Hello.”
A pink haired beauty peeked out from behind Olio, fluttering a letter in his hand.
During the short but unforgettable time we traveled together, I had grown quite fond of them, even though we hadn’t been in touch since we suddenly parted ways in Orzen’s Lair. I had been missing their updates.
While it’s difficult to keep in touch with mercenaries who wander freely across the continent, Olio, being a merchant and the son of the prestigious Bennett family, made it easier to send a letter to him.
I had just sent a simple greeting letter a few days ago when I went down to the village.
“After coming all this way to see you, is that really the expression you’re going to give me?”
Well, I didn’t expect them to show up unannounced like this.
“It’s been a while, so I’m glad to see you.”
I did my best to maintain a pleasant expression as I welcomed these unexpected guests.
“I’m dying of exhaustion. It doesn’t matter if you live in the mountains or the sea, but why on earth do you live in such a rugged place? The carriage couldn’t get through, so we had to walk all the way up from the halfway point.”
Olio, who was constantly flapping his clothes and wiping away sweat, looked genuinely hot. When I handed him a cup of cool water from the golem, he seemed taken aback.
“What’s this?”
“Our golem.”
“What kind of answer is that? I’ve seen plenty of houses with dogs in their front yards, but a house with a golem? That’s a first.”
“Why are you speaking so dismissively about our golem?”
I bristled a bit. Although the golem was created to help with small household tasks, having lived with it for a long time, I had grown somewhat attached to it. The golem was almost like family to me.
“Oh, young master. It looks like it’s upset.”
“What?”
Olio, who had been startled, looked at the golem with its shoulders drooping and began to fluster.
“What I meant was, it’s strange that such a remarkable being like a golem lives like a pet. I didn’t mean to insult you… Why do I even have to explain this?”
The once peaceful and serene mountain cabin became lively with the guests’ arrival. Despite the commotion, it was quite novel to have outside visitors for the first time.
Today, instead of the usual two, there were four tea cups set on the table. For dessert, I had prepared special butter cookies from a bakery I frequent and fig preserves made by the golem.
The cookies were light and nutty, while the figs had a natural taste that developed with each bite. Both were regular treats for Edgar and me during tea time.
“Do you know how ridiculous it was when you vanished?”
As Olio cooled his teacup, he spoke first.
“That woman sent us off to our destination like she was shooing away flies from a fish. I’ve never seen such a large-scale teleportation spell before.”
It seemed that once the wedding was over and they were no longer needed, they were immediately sent away. I offered the desserts with an awkward smile, and Olio, narrowing his eyes, picked up a cookie.
“Even though we successfully completed the request, the whole experience felt so surreal that it left me feeling a bit empty. It’s like I dreamed a midsummer night’s dream.”
“Oh, there he goes again. The young master finishes just one job and already acts like he’s in burnout.”
“Shall we determine who the presumptuous one is here with your salary for this month? Hm?”
Sensing the threat, Angel immediately bowed his head.
“Of course, it’s me. As someone who has only been a mere servant in the Bennett family all my life, I’m ungrateful for speaking out of turn. I’ll repay it by continuing to beautify my lovely face that benefits the world.”
“That’s only beneficial to you.”
As we bantered, the tea reached a drinkable temperature quickly. Olio took a sip of the warm, steaming tea and marveled.
“This tea is quite well-made.”
“Isn’t it?”
I felt a bit smug about Edgar’s tea-making skills being publicly acknowledged.
“Did you make it?”
“No.”
I pointed to the blonde man sitting next to me, and Olio made a peculiar sound of surprise.
