When Your Secret Crush Wizard Took a Love Potion - Chapter 78
“I can’t accept this.”
Amidst the applause, the only dissenting voice cut through. Olio Bennett, who had been slouched in his chair with his knees up, glared at me defiantly.
“Marriage at your age? Life is so long; how can you decide on one person to spend your whole life with already?”
His comment was so valid it left me speechless.
“Try meeting more people before you decide! For example…!”
His smooth cheeks flushed red like a steamed sweet potato.
“Someone like me, for instance…!”
It would have been better if it was just a simple example, but even I could tell what he was hinting at. It was definitely not the right place for such a conversation.
As soon as his words ended, an awkward silence fell. Olio, who had been pointing at himself with his thumb while waiting for my response, now had his ears turning as red as his face.
“Why aren’t you answering! Never mind, this wedding is invalid…!”
As Olio raised his eyes wide and looked down at his hands slowly rising into the air, his gaze was as unfamiliar as if he were looking at someone else’s body.
Clap… clap clap! Soon, his trembling hands began to deliver a flamboyant round of applause.
“You’ve grown up, young master!”
The clueless maid admired her master’s growth as he began to maturely congratulate the wedding, but I could clearly feel the flow of magical energy shifting, making it hard to ignore.
Watching Olio, who was clapping his hands incessantly while on the verge of tears, made me sigh involuntarily.
“Please stop, Orzen.”
“What did I do?”
“You’re clearly using magic to control people right now.”
“I don’t know. It seems like the kid finally wanted to congratulate you, so why are you upset?”
Despite knowing who was at fault, watching the elegant blonde noblewoman feign innocence made me feel like I was mistakenly blaming an innocent person.
As I prepared to scold Orzen again, a chilling shiver ran down my spine.
“Oh dear, I guess I’ve made him too anxious.”
Orzen, who had put the veil back on me, took my hand and began to lead me away.
Thump. My heart pounded rapidly, a stark contrast to the light-hearted attitude I had been maintaining, as if playing along with a children’s game. The pounding in my chest was due to knowing who awaited me at the end of this path.
“Finally.”
As Orzen’s hand left mine, a warm and large hand grasped mine roughly. Long, delicate fingers lifted the veil draped over my face, slowly raising it. As the veil was lifted, my vision cleared like fog dispersing, revealing Edgar’s face.
“You’ve come to me, Chloe.”
The beautiful amethyst eyes that had made my heart flutter so many times were now filled with sincerity and fixed on me. The gaze was so filled with countless emotions that I felt my mind going blank and my feelings surging.
At this moment, it truly felt like Edgar and I were getting married because we loved each other.
“What’s with that outfit?”
While other guests had also changed clothes like me, none were as splendid as Edgar’s. His outfit, with its deep navy fabric and gold embroidery, and a cloak, looked more like a knight’s uniform than the attire of a groom.
The outfit, tightly cinched around his slim waist and falling into sharp, elongated pants, accentuated his broad shoulders and sleek physique even more. His hair was neatly swept back, exposing his rounded forehead, making him appear even more composed and austere than usual.
Though he didn’t normally look like a wizard, now he could easily be mistaken for a chivalric knight with a sensitive disposition.
“Does it look strange?”
Noticing my lack of response, Edgar cautiously asked.
Given that he was already strikingly handsome, his elaborate attire was bound to be dazzling. I wanted to snap back at him, especially given the absurdity of the situation that the wedding comments had caused.
But.
Seeing Edgar in this entirely different appearance, my body felt like it was heating up, and my heart raced. It was truly absurd.
In the midst of all this, feeling my heart flutter anew at how handsome he looked was quite ridiculous.
