When Your Secret Crush Wizard Took a Love Potion - Chapter 80
As I hugged his slender neck and lowered my head, the light touch we had shared earlier felt like a lie compared to the intense kiss that followed.
The applause and cheers from the guests below seemed to fade into the distance, as if the space itself had been isolated, leaving only the warmth of Edgar’s skin and our shared presence.
At that moment, the world contained only the two of us.
“Good. The ceremony is now complete.”
The indifferent announcement by Orzen brought me back to reality.
Wait a second. Did I do something wrong again?
Edgar, still smiling, showed no sign of embarrassment, but I was mortified.
To display such a passionate kiss in front of the guests at an unwanted wedding was deeply embarrassing. I found myself rubbing my innocent lips, feeling the heat rise to my face.
“I shall record your sacred vows in the Book of Death. Should you break this holy oath and deceive the truth, you will pay the appropriate and cruel price.”
Orzen, declaring with grandeur, raised her hand high, and a bright red flame blazed from her fingertips, etching crimson letters onto the golden parchment floating in the air. The spectacular sight, something that could not even be seen for money, drew cheers from the mercenaries among the guests, but I was slightly puzzled.
‘Why is it so grand?’
Earlier, the language used in the wedding sermon was excessively grim for a ceremony.
It occurred to me that ancient texts described oaths of death as ‘promises that could never be broken,’ and that even the highest gods and immortal beings could lose their authority and fall if they broke their oaths.
“Wait a minute, Orzen! This is just a simulation, right?”
I raised my voice, fearing that the surrounding noise might drown me out.
“We didn’t really perform the ceremony, did we?”
Orzen, engrossed in burning the parchment with flames, ignored my questions, and my faint unease turned into subtle certainty.
“Well then, with all the procedures complete, let’s begin the grand feast!”
“Hey!!”
This dragon has no sense of responsibility whatsoever. What’s going to happen later?
Despite my half-serious scolding, Orzen remained focused on her task, immersing herself in her duties.
She responded to the guests’ enthusiasm with even more extravagant magic.
Plates that had been half-empty were replenished with a mere wave of her hand, and orchestras of instruments played by themselves appeared. Attendants transformed into cute golden rabbits with a flick of magic, wiggling their bottoms in rhythm to dance and sing.
As the various spectacles unfolded, I must admit that by the end, I too was left with my mouth agape, eager to see more. If it hadn’t been for Edgar walking away with me in his arms, I might have forgotten the situation entirely and been spellbound.
“Where are we going?”
“Where do you think?”
In front of Edgar, a square door, just large enough for two people, appeared as we left the grand hall of the feast. It seemed out of place against the surrounding scenery.
“Well, the place where a married couple goes after the wedding.”
As soon as we stepped through the door, the grand hall vanished behind us, and we found ourselves in a cozy, softly lit bedroom.
The spacious bedroom, likely large enough for a high noble or ruler of a kingdom, felt more intimate due to the calming tapestries covering the walls, the gently glowing fireplace, and the subdued lighting.
However, the most striking feature was the enormous bed. The canopy bed, with its thick velvet curtains draped underneath the cover, contrasted with the otherwise modest room, giving a strong sense of privacy and intimacy.
“Put me down.”
Though the setting was comfortable, the clear intent of the decor made me feel slightly embarrassed.
“As you wish.”
Edgar, who had been chewing on my words to be set down, smoothly placed me on the bed. Just as I began to relax into the soft sensation of the bedding, a dark shadow quickly loomed over me.
