When Your Secret Crush Wizard Took a Love Potion - Chapter 96
I snapped out of my daze and realized I couldn’t afford to be distracted by watching him cook. I had a specific mission to complete.
“Thank you for the meal!”
Fortunately, before I lost my composure, Edgar’s dish was ready. I hoped satisfying my hunger would also help me clear my mind.
The gratin he made, reflecting his skill from the time he prepared my last supper, looked incredibly delicious. As I scooped up a spoonful, the cheese stretched out, mingling with spicy seasoning and small, neatly diced potatoes, carrots, and onions.
“You must have been really hungry.”
Perhaps due to my noisy eating, I felt his subtle gaze on me.
“It’s delicious, eating Edgar’s cooking after such a long time.”
I said, offering a clumsy excuse while eating as heartily as I could. I could proudly say I was enjoying it more than a newborn discovering the flavors of sweetness and salt after being used to bland porridge.
It was genuinely delicious, but there was another reason for my eagerness.
“Chloe, I’m watching you because your expression looks so happy. It’s impressive how you’re eating so well with your small mouth.”
This was my second attempt at the seduction technique I had based on the person’s statements.
Now that we were alone in the cabin, I hoped Edgar would be drawn to me by watching me eat. Even if he was to make a move, I might just accept it as smoothly as I did before.
“It’s delicious, mm. It’s really good.”
The food was so good that I had already finished half of it. Edgar, seemingly unbothered by my covert glances and looks, remained calm.
“Take your time eating. No one’s going to take it from you. Don’t overeat.”
I tried my best to find the same desire in his face as before, but his serene expression remained as beautiful as a porcelain doll. Edgar’s demeanor didn’t change.
Indeed, a sane person wouldn’t get excited just by watching someone eat. Last time, the potion had unnaturally heightened his libido, which made it possible. Now, returning to his normal state, it was unlikely.
‘Is this another failure?’
It might have been a mistake to take Edgar’s statements seriously, especially given that he had been under the influence of the love potion. It meant that I was now foolishly pursuing a plan with a perfectly sane person.
My enthusiasm plummeted instantly.
Feeling dejected, I decided to focus solely on eating the food.
The dish was delicious to an extent that made my previous attempt seem insignificant in comparison. The seasoning sauce, whatever it was made from, tasted exactly like what I had eaten before, even the drop of sauce on my lips.
“Ah, it’s so spicy…”
Just like before, the gratin sauce was quite spicy. My tongue tingled slightly, and I kept reaching for water. As I wiped the wet corner of my mouth with the back of my hand and continued eating diligently, a sudden loud bang erupted.
Startled, I turned around to find Edgar with his forehead pressed against the table. He certainly had a knack for startling people with the most unexpected things.
“What’s wrong, Edgar?”
He lay there silently with his head on the table and eventually murmured in a faint voice.
“My stomach hurts.”
“Your stomach?”
The small, two-person dining table we usually use made it hard to check. Without thinking, I reached out to feel around his abdomen, causing a low moan to escape from him.
“No. A little lower…”
His voice was too faint. And with the long tablecloth hanging down, it was difficult to pinpoint where he meant. As my hand ventured slightly toward his g***n area, a loud bang occurred.
Thunk!
It was a sound far heavier than before.
“E-Edgar, are you okay?”
Horrified, I looked down at Edgar, who had toppled backward from his chair. Although the human skull is quite sturdy, the impact sounded severe enough to have cracked his head open like a watermelon.
He gazed blankly at the ceiling, rejecting my outstretched hand and slowly getting up from his seat.
“I ate too much earlier, so my stomach is full. I’ll get up now. I guess I should lie down early today.”
The color of his face, as if all the blood had drained from his body, was so severe it could make one believe he was a seriously ill patient. He made me even more concerned when he said that.
