Observing Mikhail’s relaxed demeanor, Emilia tightly sealed her trembling lips.
‘Did you come because you heard that I was summoned?’
It seemed as if he had come for that purpose, without saying anything else. His crimson eyes soon glanced towards the dagger in her hand. Emilia tightened her grip on the dagger.
“Did you come after hearing the story? I didn’t expect you to come.”
“Ah. I heard the rumors that the King had summoned you separately.”.
“But why…”
“You didn’t think I would come to help you.”
“If I had expected it, I wouldn’t have left on my own.”
Mikhail’s crimson eyes glinted, and a smirk tugged at the corners of Emilia’s narrowed eyes.
While it wasn’t something she had expected, she found herself chuckling as she confirmed it once again.
“The carriage is ready, so come along.”
“….”
“Are you planning to stab me with it?”.
“……If that’s possible.”
“You’d have to stab deep. Your father gave you something useless.”
Mikhail stepped closer to her, bringing his large frame towering over her. Her gaze instinctively rose to meet his crimson eyes, which looked unfazed as if she could stab him and it wouldn’t matter.
“Are you not going to take it away?”
“Why would I? It couldn’t kill me, anyway.”
His indifferent response didn’t seem to express any concern. Emilia’s white hand trembled as Mikhail walked past her down the hallway, revealing his back to her.
‘He really doesn’t care about me at all.’
It seemed that he was confident that she couldn’t stab him from behind.
Emilia followed him down the stairs.
As they descended to the first floor, occasionally people came into view. The courtiers, who had been bowing and greeting Duke Heinrich, briefly glanced at Emilia following behind him. They seemed to avert their gaze as if she didn’t exist. While some of them were taken aback by the dagger in her hand and the bloodstains, that was all there was to it.
Emilia felt as if she didn’t exist in this place.
As they arrived, he immediately stepped out without extending a hand to assist her, showing no intention of even superficial courtesy.
However, another valet who had stepped out of a different carriage extended his hand to Emilia, helping her avoid tripping as she safely alighted from the carriage.
Supporting herself with her shaky legs, she headed towards the entrance. As they entered the lobby, he flicked his hand towards Emilia and spoke to a maid,
“Clean her up, she’s dirty. Discard the clothes.”
Emilia’s face wrinkled at Mikhail’s words. Leri bowed and approached Emilia directly, saying,
“Madam, warm water has been prepared for you. Please come this way.”
However, Emilia did not follow Leri. Instead, she stared intently at Mikhail, revealing her displeasure.
“Retract your filthy words.”
“Do you wonder how such words could come out even after seeing your appearance?”
He responded, scanning her body with a disdainful look. For a moment, his gaze lingered on something shameful before he quickly headed towards the stairs.
Emilia was taken aback by his rude behavior and watched his retreating figure in disbelief. It was undoubtedly the others who were mistaken about what was gentlemanly about him.
She brushed her red hair with her hand and headed to her room, wanting to wash away any lingering touch of the king.
Emilia submerged herself in the bathtub, trying to forget the events of the day. However, the violet eyes and the touch that persistently clung to her body couldn’t be forgotten. She washed and washed with the soft cloth, but the feeling remained.
“Emilia, you need to pull yourself together.”
She slapped her cheeks gently with both hands, trying to calm her breathing.
If she continued to clash with the king like this, the Duke might intervene. Those who had seen her with bloodstained dress might spread rumors.
“…..This method isn’t too bad, is it? He’ll throw me if I’m a headache.”
She had no intention of acting according to her father and family’s wishes.
She had realized that after meeting him. She was just a pawn to be used. So she should refrain from doing anything that would lead to carrying his child, no matter what happens.
Emilia submerged her face in the water and closed her eyes. As the gentle sound of water diminished, silence engulfed her.

Mikhail scratched his eyebrow with his thumb as he reviewed the documents.
“Why didn’t you take action? I thought you were going to see the king immediately.”
“Should I have saved that woman?”
The butler nodded. He put down his pen and looked at the butler, Kartho.
“And why is that?”
“Well, she is still Mrs. Heinrich. If something unfortunate were to happen, it would bring dishonor to the House of Heinrich, wouldn’t it?”
