Obsession... What's That? I Just Wish Someone Would Help Me Escape - Chapter 3
The Empire’s nobility, for generations, have been dominated by five great noble families that inherited the powers of the five Great Sins: Greed, Envy, Sloth, Wrath, and Lust. They have ruled with their strong abilities for generations.
Just as factions within the populace are trivially divided into pro and anti-commoner groups, nobles leading the charge in demon hunting and clergy performing healing and preventing magical outbursts have always had a fraught relationship.
Amidst this, ‘Justina Marzenta,’ a saint, awakened a powerful divine ability to control and nullify the magic that was the exclusive domain of the nobles.
This was the beginning of a revolution that completely overturned the longstanding structure.
The cause of all this, Justina, is the female protagonist of the depraved revolutionary romance novel “The Flower Blooms in Despair (R-rated)” I had read.
Put simply, the story was about Princess Justina being used by the crown prince, dying, regressing, and then turning the tables on the gifted nobles and overturning the empire.
Had I known beforehand, I would have fled long ago, but back then, I had no memories of it.
It means I realized I was in a novel only after the story, or Justina’s regression, really started.
They are the main characters who faithfully fulfill the original keywords, and their behavior is nothing short of brutal.
In the past, maybe it was the founding anniversary celebration. I saw these handsome men from afar at a banquet.
I didn’t think much of them because they were so famous (in a different way).
Moreover, having spent most of their lives on the battlefield, there was no chance to meet them, and only now do I remember they are the main villains of the original story.
Plus, I wasn’t even a character in the novel.
I only felt something familiar yet uncomfortable, not realizing it at the time.
Anyway, the conclusion is…
Ah! Those men are the harrowing R-rated villains of a novel!
Moreover, they are ‘Graced Ones,’ from the royal House of Trisen, who had contracted with the Demon of Wrath, and were endowed with the demon’s powers.
Graced Ones are beings of a different caliber from ordinary people with abilities, extremely rare in number.
Prisoner number 1.
The illegitimate son of the Imperial family, Duke Johann Freud Dachten.
A field commander who participated in conquest wars, naturally bearing madness and cruelty fitting his role.
This, too, was a fact that I learned through socialization rather than remembering the details of the novel.
“No… I don’t want to receive such a cruel punishment, Duke Dachten. Actually, I have seen you before at a banquet.”
In response to my polite greeting that I didn’t want to be XXX and XXX, Johann smirked and lightly moved his chin he was resting on his hand.
“You saw me at a banquet? Then it must not have been a normal one.”
Is he referring to the ‘Night’s Masses,’ (a gathering of the mad), the orgies among the nobility?
There were rumors he often attended such events.
I shook my head.
“It was a very proper banquet. I saw you at the founding anniversary palace ball, sitting alone and drinking five bottles of wine.”
Johann made an incredulous face, then snickered.
“You observed quite closely. Well, if it had been the Night’s Mass, I wouldn’t have left you alone.”
What would he do if he didn’t leave me alone?
In the original, he’s portrayed as a lethally charming lover, but that’s a story for later. Not now.
I remember that keyword quite accurately.
Pretending to be debauched while actually being a v****n, and boasting about it.
Knowing all about picking fights while drunk and tracking down those who ran away.
But I have only one life, so I didn’t voice it out loud.
“Do you know who I am?”
Prisoner number 2 asked with a gentle smile.
He is the third prince of the Trisen royal family, who also joined Johann in the wars.
His name is Enrique Philippe Trisen.
Johann, the illegitimate son, is his cousin.
I know that despite his seemingly gentle and affectionate appearance, he’s as mad as Johann.
In the original story, Justina wanted to exploit the two powerful men, visiting the prison under the pretext of reformation and magical purification, taming them, and trying to make them fall for her.
True to the R-rated original, the method to stabilize and prevent the outburst of magic involved contact with someone of holy power, referred to as ‘edification.’
Unsurprisingly, the most effective method is something more e****c.
I remember reflexively hitting the collect button when I saw a subheading with the word “edification” in it.
Anyway, the possessiveness and obsession displayed by these men were beyond imagination.
After escaping, they aimed to destroy her, the sect, and the state.
What a rotten human being I must be to only remember a Rated-R moment and a spicy obsession.
